Had a little visit from the Jahova's Witnesses yesterday...

After telling them I was an atheist, and suggesting they should leave my private property, they left a little booklet. I actually read it, and was shocked to see what was contained inside.

Here it is. Typed out just to make you sick.

JESUS CHRIST: WHO IS HE?
The picture under this header is of a chubby man with short, curly brown hair, that looks NOTHING like any representation of Jesus I have ever seen.

Here is the text inside. I'm not going to retype the entire thing, but here is the stuff I wanted to point out:

To millions of people in the Orient and elsewhere, though, Jesus Christ is a stranger. They may believe that he existed, but they do not think that he has any bearing on their lives. Others dismiss Jesus as unworthy of attention because of what professed followers of his have done. "They dropped an atom bomb on Nagasaki", some in Japan would say. (a city with more Christians than most cities in Japan)

Yet, would you blame a physician for a patient's illness if the patient failed to stick to the doctor's prescription? Obviously not. People of Christendom have long ignored Jesus' prescription for overcoming theyir day-to-day problems. So rather than reject Jesus because of so-called Christians, who do not follow his instruction, why not learn something about him for yourself?

So let's put this sick shit into context. On the 60th anniversay, TO THE DAY, of the bombing of Nagasaki, the Jehova's Witnesses are passing out pamphlets that proclaim that Japan basically deserved to be nuked for not following the teachings of Christ...

These people are INSANE. This is why I am REVOLTED by organized religion of ANY faith. These kinds of fanatical zealots are holding back our progress as a species, and I am sick of it!

Follow Christ, kids, because Jesus may nuke your city if you don't.

Or else learn just the basic facts about the Jehova's Witnesses. IF you do know anything about them, it's pretty clear they are saying that President Truman and those who advised him did not follow Chists teachings when they dropped the bomb, not any nonsense about the Japanese deserving it.

I work with a few JWs every day. They are not my cup of tea, but I believe they follow the bible closer than many religions.

They spent half the time mocking other religions.


Whenever any of them visit I tell them "Im very happy with my faith,thankyou".Ends the conversation almost every time.

I thought it was saying that people shouldn't knock the entire Christian faith because of the bad deeds of certain people who claim to be Christians.

I didn't let them get a word in, I asked if they knew we were at war, did they know how many soldiers had died in that war, (they didn't)then I told them they should go back to whoever sent them to my door and ask why they didn't know the answer to my question and when they did have an answer to come back and I would gladly talk with them again.

I wanted to type out a couple of the (horror) stories about him and his kids but I decided they were a little too personal. One thing I will say though, the family gatherings were uncomfortable to say the least and my other uncle referred to him as "the asshole".

It's been said before, but needs to be said again, I think.

The JW pamphet is saying that, just as you don't blame a doctor for mistakes his patient may make, you don't blame Christ for mistakes his followers may make. The paragraph with the bold text doesn't refer to Japanese, at least not to them any more than to anybody else.

It's actually the reason for pointing out the "Xians in Nagasaki" factoid: you're expected to conclude that Nagasaki-ites have properly discerned that what a teacher says to do and what his students actually do can be rather different things.

There are lots of things to be revolted at. That paragraph isn't particularly one of them.

As far as the picture ... short curly hair's not an improbable choice. I'm unconvinced about the 'chubby' part.
