Why I absolutely LOATHE the sight of Bush making a speech!

I just saw him a short while ago, making a speech about energy before his latest hand picked audience in New Mexico. As usual he was grasping the podium, leaning forward earnestly, with a look on his face that said, "listen to this bombshell of wisdom I'm about to impart to you" and then he spouted his inane, simplistic ideas as if he were Churchill making a speech....More and more his eyes betray the meanness of his spirit...No matter how many "God bless Americas" he throws out there....I also notice now that he has developed a sort of nervous twitch to his chin when he is speaking...I think his own putrid inner being is starting to overpower him!....


P.S....I have to say here that as a non-American, I still feel slightly uncomfortable saying such things about your president, but you are all so generous in your acceptance of Canadians and others as critics of Bush.....I guess you know that we like the American people...:loveya:...It's just George we can't stand!

1. You're right...he's no Churchill to put it mildly.

I've gotten where I really can't make myself watch him; I have to find out what he said here or on other sites.

Also, I for one enjoy and appreciate having the support of Canadians, Australians, English, Germans, Brazilians, etc. who come to DU. It really does help me feel we're not alone!

He is not "our" president. To us he is just some frat boy who managed to sneak into the White House. We can't stand him either. And the thing I dreaded most about the thought of him getting re-elected--or rather, elected--was exactly what you described in your post. The thought of four more years of that shit just made me sick. I actually almost puked on Nov. 5th 2004.

You can tell a lot about how a person is by just looking at their eyes and making eye contact. You can tell if they're really and truly being honest and/or sincere or just being full of crap. With George it's always full of crap. I don't think he even believes the stuff he spouts whether about some policey or about religion. He just uses religion to hide behind and make people support him. Kind of like the Taliban eh?

I was listening to a radio program and someone was talking about this. I think it was Malloy's but I'm not sure. It was somewhere and they were talking about how now whenever Bush speaks he blinks a lot and stutters around when he talks about compassion. It's very interesting to watch and see him even though I want to barf everytime.

I am an American, and he is STILL not my pResident. I welcome any and all critisicm of him, regardless of the country of origin. I can't stand to watch him make a speech either. When he comes on TV, I flip him off and either change channels or just shut off the TV altogether. I don't even have to think about the flipping him off bit anymore. At this point it has become completely automatic.

P.S. I want to move to your country. Canada is great and my country sucks. ;)

So it really annoys me that this man supposedly represents the United States. And it's not just the (big) lies about the war and about Karl Rove. Bush's eyes communicate something totally different from the script he's reciting. Look at his eyes during a speech -- if it's a solemn occasion, like the deaths of American troops, his eyes are twinkling with mirth. If he's doing a photo-op at a homeless shelter, the words he recites are earnest, but his eyes look totally bored. In his own words, this is "disassembling"!

It's really disappointing, to see such a hollow, small-minded person making so much trouble in the world. The Americans I know are intelligent, courageous, creative, and compassionate. For example, a guy who was a conscientious objector in WWII, but right after VE Day he herded all his cattle onto a boat bound for Europe, and GAVE them to farmers over there. He and his wife returned home months later, with only the clothes they wore on their backs -- they'd given everything else away! Another guy, a brilliant scientist, flew the Pioneer 11 spacecraft on its way past Jupiter. He takes computers apart and uses the pieces to build new ones. And I used to work for a woman who spends almost all of her income nursing injured animals back to health. I don't think that George W. Bush deserves to represent a country filled with such people, let alone send them to war to benefit himself.

Have you also noted how he continually touches himself? He is always cupping his breasts or placing a palm on his chest. He simply cannot keep his hands off himself. I want to slap those spatulate hands and order him to keep them on the podium. There is no need to keep fingering his various parts. He is too unsavoury to keep drawing our attention to his loathsome body. Ugh!
