Keith Olbermann Has Tumor Removed
At the end of tonight's show, Keith gave an account how over the past 10 days, he's been spitting up blood, as a result of having a benign tumor removed from the roof of his mouth. He blamed it on his smoking cigars and pipes for the past 30 years.

He gave a strong warning to those who continue to smoke, and reiterated his story about how he feared for his life, or having to go through chemo, before he knew that the tumor was benign and isolated.

1. Hopefully, Peter Jenning's death has put a little fear in him, too.

3. I'm glad he's okay
That's what happened to my grandfather. Years before when he was younger he smoked pipes and cigar's and he had a heartattack and a warning from his doctor and he stopped smoking. Then last year out of nowhere he got lung cancer and died late last month. :(

K.O. sat right there and told it like it is...upclose and personal and pulled no punches.

This makes me want to start again on my brother to quit smoking.

5. Hmm
I bet his tumor is smarter than most of his fellow major network TV reporters.

7. Man, that was powerful
I am really thinking about quitting smoking.
Maybe I will quit drinking first.

Screw it, no one lasts forever.

But KO was on his game during that monologue and I certainly hope it reached a ton of people with the impact it had on me.

8. Mixing tobacco and alcohol forms some very
toxic chemicals. The alcohol heightens the risk.

I went cold turkey in 1977, haven't touched them since. If you fail quitting, try it again. Sooner or later it will work for you.

BTW, things taste different/better after quitting. You might even find that your taste in beer might change. Sex is better too because you will have greater endurance and better blood flow to appendages.
