Have you been visited too?

Can't help but get a twinge of paranoia. I figure they probably followed my signature link.
I knew they would check it out sooner or later.

4. how many sites are there?
If it's only a few thousand, they literally can lock up everyone who puts them up.

12. Relax...
Believe me, 99.9% of the time, the folks coming in from .gov (and .mil) sites are just farting around at work (on your taxpayer's dime).

Still, it's funny you should bring this up today...

I always get a smattering of hits to my personal Web site from various .gov (and .mil) addresses every day, and I seldom worry about it.

But when I saw no less than 241 hits from a single .gov agency today, I became concerned enough to track the IP's movements through my site.

Was it something my blog that attracted the wrong kind of attention? Or, more likely, my section of bizarre 9/11 coincidence/conspiracy stuff, which is blanketed by such Carnivore-triggering words and phrases as "Osama" and "Global Hawk spy plane"?

Answer: None of the above. Somebody at sec.gov just spent hours reading scores of movie spoilers, checking out my Photoshopped mockups of Hilary Duff and Michael Jackson... in other words, basically just farting around.

Go check your raw server logs, and see what the DOJ employee has been up to, what s/he's actually been looking at.

I get a lot of DOJ hits too. No big deal. Even if you've got super-sensitive stuff on your site, you are WAY far down the list of people they want to nab.

Oh, look, now somebody at NASA is checking out my Condi Rice makeover pics...

13. Like your "End of the internet" thingy...but what the hell is that music?
It's gotta be something by Bach...right? Damn these old neurons.

15. Give this man a cigar! :)
Bach it is! Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. (Which, incidentally, Andrew Lloyd Weber kinda-sorta-partially appropriated for the overture of Phantom of the Opera.)

DOO-DOO-DOOOOOO... do-do-do-do-dooooooooooooo-doo...!

16. Whee! I should've remembered Toccata. I have enjoyed that on old
33 LP records I have in the attic. I just yesterday bought a turntable on ebay so I can play some of those old vinyl records! Mine broke 10 years ago and I miss hearing a lot of my collection...I guess I have about a thousand of the old things. :D

17. I'm not really
worried. I used to be with military intelligence and they laid the paranoia on us big time.
Even after all these years, I still check myself, self censor, or see things from that "way of thinking." It's the only real discipline in my very undisciplined life.

14. not by that agency, but some
I got a little freaked out one day recently when Sitemeter showed a Dept. of Interior visit until I realized that they don't really do anything (for some reason I was concerned that Homeland Security was under them until I remembered that they're their own Cabinet department) ... also recently I've seen a couple visits from navy.mil and a government lab in California
