Are we trying to convert the wrong people?
I was thinking about freepers, over the weekend, and banging my head against the wall. We have all told our war stories about the rude responses of people with no brain matter. It seems they will not give an inch and you know what? You are right, they won't. They will never admit they are wrong or that their precious pResident did anything illegal or immoral.

So where does that leave us? I think it leads us to converting our own or people who are in the middle of the road. I know what you are thinking - they are already on our side so why are we trying to speak to them about the issues? This all may sound ludicrous but hear me out.

The one thing we have all been frustrated about is that the truth is not being told by the corporate media. That means the truth is not getting out to our side either. Not the folks who do not even realize they are in the dark.

I know democrats who I send information to on a weekly basis. My husband was approached by a democrat co-worker the other day. He told my husband that it looks like the Rove thing was over and nothing was going to happen to him! My husband quickly educated him that he was listening to talking points. This is even after hubby has told people that the media is not doing it's job!!!

I believe if we get out and educate people who we know are on our side, pretty soon there will be more of a movement within our country. How many of us have gotten out there and consistently told democrats that they are not getting the full story? (or even a partial story?)

I have not until recently. I was pleasantly surprised when one of my left leaning friends called me after several weeks of deprogramming. She called to tell me about the hoax of a poll in our local paper! You could hear how excited she was that she knew the truth. This is someone I had discounted because I knew she was on our side and would vote democrat and she did not seem like the type that would spread the word anyway.

Our country is asleep and some of them have informed us they do not wish to be awakened. Are we neglecting our party and letting our country down by not informing our side about the truth? The * regime is getting away with all of this because people do not know the truth. There are people out there who are on our side but they do not know that all they get is propaganda. The more people who know the truth, the more who will join us in our fight and they can pass the information on to others that they know. They will come out to rallies. They will write letters to the editor with us.

We have a goldmine out there just waiting to be informed. I think we have been trying to convert the wrong people.

1. STOP "CONVERTING",...
,...START SPREADING TRUE DEMOCRACY.

Do you know what that is?

3. Yes, I do know what that is....
and I honestly was not meaning to offend you or did I take your post wrong?

I could have used any number of words and perhaps that one was a bad choice. I just meant that the way people hammer away at RWers, it seems like they are trying to win them over, or convert them, to our viewpoint. I am trying to spread true democracy by getting the truth out so we can get rid of the fascist dipshits in the White House.

2. Talk to both.
That conversation that you're having that never "gains an inch" actually does. In the hours, days and minutes following the conversation. Like the insipid information that washed the brain in the first place, cogent information will linger when the listener goes back in his/her mind to retrieve an argument.

One synapse at a time.

5. rummy....
I hope you are right and that it does gain some ground but then again, I was cursed out and called a 'sicky' the other day when I emailed a family member about torture. I was told to never contact them again unless it was only pertaining to a family event. Other than that, I am not allowed outside contact.

Then, of course, there is my other family member who told me he wants to hear nothing else and that he is "wholly satisfied" with our government and their polices.

It is hard to believe anything is getting through to these people. And these were not the only hostile interactions I have had including someone trying to run me off the road for my democratic bumper sticker.

I have really put myself out there in hostile territory and I can only hope that I have made a difference. I will try to do both but there are some people who have made it quite clear that they do not want me to speak another word.

8. No, I still can not sleep.
Even in my bed thoughts run through my head about how we can defeat this man and get him out of office...and preferably into jail. But you are right, whatever way it ends up, I am trying my best and doing everything in my power.

9. Thank you Dave.....
The thing is, for me anyway, it certainly can to cover all of our bases. What have we got to lose? We have more to lose if we do not talk to our own party.
