No Stopping, No Standing, No Parking on Right of Way on Prarie Chapel Road
Visit www.crawford-texas.org and go to the On teh way to the Ranch! page and scroll down to the picture of the sign.

That's all they need to arrest Cindy Sheehan and anyone else. They've made the road to the ranch an anti-first amendment zone.

Assholes. Be sure to join me in sending a comment to these idiots that Crawford, TX will go down as the black hole of the U.S. if they lay a finger on Cindy Sheehan.

26. Don't these signs need to spell out the specific ordinance to be legal
How you supposed to know WHICH law you're breaking? Specifically.

21. It says "right of way"
Every put up political signs? The right of way runs right up to the private property lines.

So, basically, you're not allowed to stop on that road. At least it doesn't say "Deadly Force Authorized."

4. from the front page
Ironic, isn't it, that one of the tourist attractions in a town that is headed by a criminal is a jail.

The tiny old jail in it's tin shed still sits on a plot of land just off the main road. The craftsmanship of the flat steel bars and the size of the area law breakers were kept in is a must see when in town. Imagine the heat inside the building on those hot Texas August days!

7. So this means they had an emergency meeting of the commission or
legislature that authorizes this type of change or is this by proclamation of King George and his court?

If they are trying to make it impossible to get back and forth by increasing the distance to where cars can park, can we get bicycles for Cindy and visitors to use?

13. Are they on Prairie Chapel Road? That long road leads out to the ranch
taking many turns along the way, but they might not be camped out on it. If they're within three miles of the ranch... I don't know if they're on that exact road.

Wikipedia says Prairie Chapel Ranch is 7 miles northwest of Crawford -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prairie_Chapel_Ranch

Here's a thread with satellite pix and a written description of how you get to the ranch:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4290206&mesg_id=4290206

"take Prairie Chapel Road north west of Crawford

Drive to Rainey Road

take to the right

You probably will be stopped before you get to Mill Road, the first to the left"

Here's a Crawford yahoo map - zoom in to 'st' level and use the arrows to follow Prairie Chapel Road (it goes on forever)

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=&csz=Crawford+Texas&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=

I wonder what road Camp Casey is on?

15. "no law..abridging the right of the people to peacably assemble.."
The First Amendment with added proviso:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Proviso: (Apply only when convenient lest the people think that they have some say in Government)

23. I hate to point this out but . . .
at least here in Michigan the right of way extends 33 feet to the left and to the right of the center of the road. In Michigan it is perfectly legal to prohibit stopping standing or parking on the right of way. Beyond the 33 feet in either direction is probably private property. I guess the only way around this is for Cindy Sheehan to keep moving and use the right of way as a road.
