Is Kieth O going to cover Cindy in Texas?
If he doesn't no one on cable will. I sure hope he plans to make a big issue of it.

1. I'll be very disappointed in him if he doesn't
but rumor is that NBC has quashed this story.
I guess we will see...

2. Someone posted earlier today that it's not
part of his ajenda for tonight. MSNBC has cancelled all interviews with her... Hopefully he'll mention this on his blog or something. I was a little dissapointed when he didn't cover it yesterday...

Health officials believe a Tulsa water park may be a link between two Tulsa boys who died Friday from a rare, waterborne disease. The Health Department is testing stagnant water in a drainage area near a "splash pad" in Mohawk Park. The two boys had apparently played at the water park about two days apart within the last two weeks, health officials said. http://www.channeloklahoma.com/news/4819737/detail.html

Military Idol -- Monica Novotny reports.

That's some of what we're planning for tonight's show.

Finally,
Bill Tangeman is making a documentary film about a man who set out in 1997 to get a caffeinated drink at every corporate-owned Starbucks store on the planet. On his Web site (<http://www.starbuckseverywhere.net> ) "Winter", who was born Rafael Antonio Lozano, said that as of Aug. 8, he had visited 4,775 Starbucks in North America and 213 in other parts of world. There are 5,715 corporate-owned Starbucks in the world. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/STARBUCKING_MOVIE?SITE=NWCN&TEMPLATE=STRANGEHEADS.html&SECTION=HOME
And when Winter is done with Starbucks, it's on to 7-11s and Slurpees!

4. Uh, NOTE HOW FAR DOWN IT WAS ON THE LIST.
And tonight it was a mere clip in the "Oddball" segment of stupid video that he runs practically every night as comic relief. He was NOT COVERING THE RUNAWAY BRIDE AS A SERIOUS STORY, PEOPLE. Sheesh.

Another thing...just because you read it in the newsletter doesn't mean it will be part of the show. For example, nothing on the UN or Nagasaki tonight.

Perhaps none of you watched his show last night, in which he followed up his tribute to Peter Jennings with the news that for the past week he has been afraid that he, too, has cancer. He just had a tumor removed from the roof of his mouth--fortunately benign. He blames it on 27 years of smoking, and is now on a crusade to help people quit.

Maybe that doesn't make him really politically correct on either side of the fence. But it's important to him, and I think he deserves time to do it. And given all the fine reporting he has given us in the past, I am willing to be patient with him this week, because I expect that he will cover everything else that needs covering in time.

Reading the things people are saying about him this week, it appears that everyone has forgotten what a good job he's done in the past...rushing to believe this "NBC/MSNBC have been squelched" rumor...and is willing to stick it to him this week while he's recovering from an experience that could make anyone frightened to death.

I trust he will be hitting his full stride again soon.

5. I don't think it's his fault.. MSNBC cancelled all interviews
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 09:50 PM by walldude
with Cindy. Something is up there. Even Olberman has to answer to someone, let's see what happens. If she gets arrested there will be no stopping the story.

edit-sorry didn't mean to repeat myself.. hehe

6. Berry, that's simply the way it often is here at DU.
"Waaahhh! You didn't cover the story I wanted you to (or the way I wanted you to), I'm never going to watch any more!!!" (Or sometimes, "Blankety Blank has gone over to the DARK SIDE!!!"

7. I agree with you, BerryBush.
I didn't see Keith last night or tonight (I'll catch the repeat later tonight), I just found out by reading his newest blog.
Keith is one of the really great guys, IMO.
