My LTTE

I wasn't going to post this because I've heard there are "those whose name we dare not speak" lurking about on DU looking for ways to make people's lives hell. But after conferring with a couple of DUers that I respect, I thought, what the hell. I am not going to hide behind my keyboard. They agreed that it's definitely worth sharing because it shows that our hard work is not for naught. We need to address egregiously misinformed people with facts. The truth shall set them free, as the saying goes.

A reader wrote this letter to the editor of the Gainesville Times:

5. I think LTTE

are one of the best forms of public education. Malcolm X always used to say that its good to place a glass of clean water next to a dirty glass of water, and let thirsty people decide which one they want. Your letter does just that. Thank you for sharing it with us, and even more, thanks for writing it!

6. The text of the original LTTE appeared in a Michigan paper, too!

It was either in the Kalamazoo Gazette or Detroit Free Press.
I think it may have been one of those boilerplate letters that organizations write to have their members customise and send into local papers.

I'll try to find and post here.

10. How beautiful and eloquent

well said!!! And the whole city can look at him cockeyed and wonder if he's as tightly wound as he appears to be. Mothers can herd their children away from him while walking down the street.

I can't believe the brazeness of those who don't have a grasp on the simple, documented truths.
