Probably a stupid question for all you youngsters, but I'm about to turn 50, and I'm already getting their over the hill crap. Don't want any part of them if I remember correctly, but memory already going to hell. LOL

3. I was a member for eight years, quit when they ran a cover
story on "Condi" Rice in their current magazine. Sent them the cover and a nasty note instead of a check for my dues. Save your money, they are drinking the kool-aid. I will post the link. Fifty isn't bad, it was the year 2000 that fucked everything up for me.

5. They are fighting strongly for Social Security
and being smeared by the White House for it.
I guess they can't be all bad,lol.
My mom is a member and is pleased with the low auto insurance rates.

7. I've been to AARP's forums. They often sound much like DUers
from social security to the stolen election.

Here, I'll dig up a link. Check it out and enjoy!

Just noticed I left the "p" out of Sept. A lot of trouble with "p" after 50...it's ironic.

9. They backed *bush on his empty
prescription bill smoke screen. The bill that even Medicare experts couldn't navigate the red tape. I think the senior's ended up with a pro-rated, annual spin down fee schedule which only had a maximum of $350 or $450. Then, the pharmaceutical companies that offered discount drug cards prior to the bill; well they all of the sudden stripped the selections to a bare bones!

Thats it in a nut shell.

15. I vote for joining
Due to their involvement with the bush/prescription fiasco, I was prepared not to renew my membership this year, but then they came out as the strongest foe of the Privitization of Social Security. I strongly believe that we would be facing privatization if not for AARP. Their AARP Bulletin and Magazine are full of the issues that we discuss all the time on DU. (I also like their discounts at hotels, gift shops, and other businesses.)
