WHY DID HILLARY CLINTON OPPOSE CAFTA?
I am surprised and confused that Senator Clinton opposed CAFTA. I am glad she did but the Clinton's have historically been pro free trade. Even Jimmy Carter supported CAFTA. Do you think this was all because of 08 and Hillaryt rying to keep friends on both the left and the centrist wing of our party? I have read a few articles stating that CAFTA would actually help the farmers in NY so I am just having trouble understanding why Hillary- a politicians politician would oppose it.

2. Hill is to the left of Bill- wants environment/labor law rules in treaties
Bill's comment was that he wished she had voted to approve CAFTA

7. I have no inside info on that - but Hill fought Bill in 93 as she pushed
for single payer national health

We - the insurance folks cutting checks to our lobbyist crowd - were quite proud of the way we stopped her - appealing to Bill's ego and saying we would guarantee passage as long as he did not go single payer

As in 73 with Nixon, insurance company lies stopped single payer Health in the US despite a President that was ready for it.

Of course it helped the insurance position to be able to control the spin in the media.

But what is the point of rich folks running things if they do not help each other?

9. Just a wild guess here, but I would say that she opposed it
because she believes it is bad for the county.

that works for me.

10. 95% of US citizens opposed CAFTA; 95% of reps should have too
Explaining this anomaly will not reflect kindly on most of Congress.

11. 95%? I'd wager that not even 95% have heard of it,
let alone have a position for or against.
