Sundance Channel's got a podcast hit on its hands. Its Al Franken Show has been near or at the top of the podcast pops since the iTunes Music Store launched free podcasts on June 28.
Franken's show debuted at No. 2 and stayed there for two weeks; at least twice, it broke through to No. 1. At press time, the weekly "best of" Franken was No. 5 in the list of top 100 podcasts.
"This is part of a larger marketing deal that we have with Apple from a marketing and promotional standpoint," said Kirk Iwanowski, SVP of marketing for Sundance Channel.
The Franken podcast, refreshed weekly, clearly identifies its source as Sundance Channel and not Air America, which transmits Franken's radio show.
