Yet another reason to consider moving to Canada
Toronto has seen a record number of 100+ (farenheit) days this year, the record for such days was, in fact, snapped by the end of June and we are told we can expect such days through the end of October. This pattern is being matched across much of Canada - not just the heat but unusually high humidity and UV levels.

A scientist talking on CBC last night said that the records we are setting now won't hold. He said that 50 years from now this would be considered a "normal" summer and that there will be even hotter summers.

So, if 100 degress plus (from June to October) with high humidity is going to be normal for Canada I don't even want to think about the US. On the plus side, only lizards (who tend not to vote) will live in the Red States.

they said when runaway global warming killed 99% of all life, the temp at the equator went up about 3 degrees.. but the temp at the poles went up like 20 or 30 degrees.

2. The further north you are, the greater the change is happening
Our Inuit (falsely called Eskimo) are experiencing phenomena that they don't even have traditional words for.
Lightning and Thunderstorms. Robins. Mussels. Even the seasons themselves are changing. Spring used to come gradually, and the ice would melt. Now, some areas experience year-round open water.

The further south you go, the less you notice anything is happening. Heard any reports from Equador or Equatorial Guinea or Singapore? Nope.

3. Sorry to be a pedant, but I don't think it's hit 100F once this summer.
Maybe the humidex has, but not the actual temperature. I don't think we've even broke 95F this summer.

That article uses 30C (=86F) as a benchmark for what consitutes a hot day, and yeah there've been waaaay too many of those.

5. 40 is 104.
I'm on the west end too, and I've never seen it above 35 that I can recall.

The humidex has got into the upper 30's a lot, but not the actual temperature.

6. It's been above 35 quite a bit
it's not really worth arguing the point but 35 = 102

F = (C x 2) + 32
