Myth: America CAN NOT and WILL NOT become a Dictatorship!
Hold on Skippy! The possibility of America becoming a Dictatorship is very real, and in this day and age, it is also very realistic. If it is not stopped, it is inevitable.
When most people picture a Dictatorship, they see a regime that is:
One man writes the bills, signs the bills into law, and then enforces the bills.
This type of Dictatorship is actually very rare.
Most Dictatorships are actually a group of people doing that thing, like a Party for example.
Let's look at that again.
One Party writes the bills, signs the bills into law, and then enforces the bills.
This is also a Dictatorship.
A Dictatorship in America is possible through the use of Political Parties.
"Bush can't run in 2008, we don't have a Dictatorship!"
No.
In 2008, Bush can not run again. But, this is not an Autocracy we are talking about, but Dictatorship by Party.
In 2008, the GOP will select a nominee to be the Executive branch of the Dictatorship.
What's all this stuff about the Courts going on?
There have been recent attempts by the 'christian' Right to impeach Judges who do not adhere to their will.
Bush has also appointed RW'ers as Judicial Nominees.
You see, the Courts have not been completely taken over yet. The GOP is trying to complete the Dictatorship.
How do we beat this?
Party reform. This Partisan stuff is ruining America.
So, yes. The threat of a Dictatorship in America is very real.
