Forget Clark. Colin Powell quits and becomes a Dem
and runs for president against Bush.

Clark had never entered the equation, lets say.

Would the same supporters of Clark Support Powell?

Just wondering...

1. probably not
Clark has progressive views, Powell, for the most part, does not. Doesn't help that Powell has been facilitating the fascist takeover the last three years, either.

3. Dunno
Depends on his platform and what his issues are. I'm a registered demcrat who has voted Republican, Green, and 90% Democratic. I vote for whoever I think serves the nation best. Might be a Republican, might be a Green, might be a Dem. I've voted for all three parties in the past, and probably will again in the future. I'm a registered Dem b/c I vote 90% dem. The other 10% of my votes were split between Republicans and Greens.

I'll vote for whoever I think best serves the nation, over the party. Right now, that person is ABB, and happens to be Clark in my mind.

4. No, I prefer someone
who isn't so willing to get into bed with the Busheviks.

The fact that he not only joined their team in 2000 but also lied for them in public instead of resigning on account of their duplicity, as an honorable man would have done, eliminates him from any consideration.

17. Ditto
As Napoleon said, the guy who knows what's going on has the obligation to resign if his bosses won't listen. Powell didn't. Because of that, Powell bears as much responsibility as anyone else for this disaster of an administration.

6. Yes, absolutely.
He's a political moderate, as is Clark. Whether he agreees with his own admin or not, his duty is to carry out its policies. Most importantly, for me, is that I feel confident Powell would be the kind of person who would appoint reasonable judges to the supreme court - and that is as important, if not moreso, than any issue in the election next year.

Even if he wanted to, he has lost too much respect
He could have done this before lying to the UN and the American people. He would have trounced W had he left the administration due to his uneasiness about this issue.

He didn't. He lied. He lost respect. He set himself up as a pawn for the neo-cons.

8. Sorry, Colin lost all credibility with me...
...I used to have a modicum of respect for the guy but not anymore--anyone who's carried that much water for Bushco isn't worth my vote*

*Unless he sings like a bird about all of the underhanded crap Bushco has unleashed upon the world, that is...

9. He can sing an opera's worth, but no go for me
I draw the line--

He had his chance-- he went to the UN w/ fake evidence, innuendo.

As a military man--he knows better-- our soldiers died because the idiot he worked for lied--and in turn so did he.

Sorry--Powell's name is mud in my book.

12. Nope
He bugged out the last time when the press or "someone" was going through his trash and reporting on what meds his wife was taking (antidepressants). He won't run.

14. He has zero Credibility
He sold his soul for Bush. Remember his phony UN presentation. Why would any party want to be associated with him?

15. Depends on what he said, how he explained Bush relationship.
If he repudiated the Bush administration and said the right things, I'd be receptive at least. I think we need to think flexibly here. I would not support the neo-con-abetting Powell. If he turned the other cheek, then maybe I could do so. I would welcome Powell as a Democrat any day.
