(PHOENIX, AX) — Sherry Bohlen knew in her gut that the Iraq war was based on lies, but it wasn't until the Downing Street Memo was leaked to the British press in May that she knew it was a fact. As her son, Thor, prepared to go to Iraq in June, Bohlen was left questioning why President Bush was asking families like hers to sacrifice their children. "It clearly wasn't to find weapons of mass destruction, and the memos showed there was no plan to create stability in that region," says Bohlen, "Last week the president said those Ohio boys died for 'noble causes.' What noble causes?"
Bohlen left her Arizona home on Tuesday to camp out with Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, Texas as a statement of solidarity between military moms. Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq over a year ago, has said that Bush's 'noble causes' comment is what finally pushed her to go and confront him in Texas. Bohlen describes Sheehan, with whom she has spoken, as "an incredibly courageous woman."
