Due to some server software issues that my server provider is working on, there will be some downtime today and no Hartmann show streaming. Also, some shows will not be uploaded until the matter is resolved.

Basically there was a failed upgrade to one software component (sshd) that is keeping me from logging onto the server at all remotely, though it is currently up and serving files.

2. I really hope your sshd runs at a port OTHER than 22!

Else it'll be flooded with attack attempts. Believe me - I know from personal experience!

I've seen funky things happen during upgrades.

Me, I'm more of a Fedora man myself. (Wow, how egocentric was THAT sentence?)

Anyway, in the future I'd suggest specifying another port in sshd_config and accessing it like

ssh -p XXXXX somehost.whiterosesociety.org

5. I'll do that...

I just released them to do an OS reload. They are putting the current disk in the third drive bay so I don't have to upload everything again...

The issue appears to be that the libcrypt that dselect installed was not consistent with the other binaries it installed.

I am just going to move to source upgrades from now on. The libraries cannot be inconsistent if I built against them, after all!
