Falwell's "Vote Christian" is actually not a bad idea.

At least he's bold enough to admit his true feelings. America would actually be better-served if voters were MORE fragmented. Since everyone seems to be anti-something/someone,or rabid something... why not just admit it and show true colors..

Republicans are where they are today because they were able to get lots of people to avert their eyes from parts of their own party.

Look at "who" the republican party IS:

Wealthy corporatists
racists
skinheads
xenophobes
kill-em-all gun nuts
extreme right militias
homophobes
misogynists
fetus worshipers
rapturists
and others I have forgotten

Each group, by itself would be little more than a curiosity.. a fringe kook group...but when they each "look the other way" and embrace the other crazies, they create a cohesive unit...

More people in their party should start to identify themselves..not just Falwell..

Don't forget the homophobes that are scared to death that two men might get married somewhere, some day. Of course you can probably group them in with the Christian fundamentalists--there seems to be a lot of overlap there.

But I totally agree, the more of them that stand up and say "this is what 'my' party stands for," the more likely they are to alienate the other members of their unholy alliance, and it eventually will crumble.
