Officials have vetoed proposals for Mr Bush to address Parliament, fearing he would face a mass boycott from Labour MPs.

Former presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan gave speeches to MPs and peers during official visits, but undoubtedly such a move in the present climate would result in an embarrassing rejection by parliamentarians.

Lavish State banquets planned for the President at Buckingham Palace and Guildhall in London will be another source of controversy.

Traditionally these events attract the cream of the British establishment, but many politicians and celebrities are likely to turn down invitations to meet Mr Bush because he has become such an unpopular figure in Britain.

Wouldn't it be great if Shrub had to spend his entire visit holed up in Buckingham Palace with tanks and armored cars surrounding it to keep the protestors at a safe distance. Of course Liz and Philip would probably have a bad case of cabin fever after being bottled up with Dubya and Pickles for three days straight. Oh well, maybe they can set up a guest suite in the Royal Dungeon well away from the royal family's accomadations to keep Shrub out of their hair until he slinks out the back door to get back on Air Force 1 for the trip home.

3. I have been thinking about this, and

what I want to know is why is * visiting the Queen in the first place?? He is hated almost universally in England, and why would the queen invite him when it would certainly look bad for the Monarchy? (which, IMHO, doesn't need anymore bad press). It just seems like a stupid move all the way around.

Sometimes, when I am wearing my tinfoil hat, I think that something evil is stirring...

But what do I know, maybe the Queen wants to give him a knighthood or just beat the piss out of him.
