Can you blame Iran for wanting a nuke program? Look at their proximity.
Iran is situated near Russia (nukes), Pakistan (nukes), India (nukes), China (nukes), US naval vessels in the Persian Gulf (nukes), Israel (possibly has nukes)...
Dont they have the right to arm themselves to the strength of their neighbors and possible invaders/attackers?

4. Uhm, Israel doesn't "possibly" have nukes
They have at least a hundred.

But, shhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't say anything about that because then you'd be 'antisemitic'

6. Nor do I but considering their neighbors armaments...
If I were Iran I'd be keeping up with the Jones's for the protection and future of the nation.

7. I agree that without them they are at the mercy of anyone.
And it is not like there aren't countries nearby wanting to destroy them.

8. But we are so honorable about keeping our treaties
We force a nation to disarm, and when they do, we invade. What're the odds the next nation will disarm?

10. If someone had taken out Canada and Mexico ...
I imagine that the US would be rather concerned about what lay ahead. Iran's neighbors are Iraq and Afghanistan -- gee, nothing going wrong in those countries, right?

Personally I don't like nuclear weapons, even as a "necessary evil", and will fight to keep my own country (Canada) from acquiring them -- but given that Iran probably still remembers that the CIA messed around with its elected government back in the 1950s, their mistrust of the US isn't coming out of nowhere.

11. Israel does have nukes
and that scares the hell out of me -- because Israel has freaking fundamentalists who could take control of the nukes.

Sort of like giving the nutty bushie control of the nukes -- we will be very lucky if we get through the next few years without him playing with these "toys" -- we are going to be very very lucky.

I wish some benevolent aliens to invade and take away all the nuke toys -- but that isn't very mature of me.
