KOEB 8/10/05 Keith might get axed??????
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 07:01 PM by Botany
I can not get to the group page ......

Breaking news ...... head man @ MSNBC blew up @ Keith and told
him something to the effect that I don't care if you come in tomorrow
after his Peter Jennings / Quit Smoking show.

Here is his e mail.

rick.kaplan@msnbc.com

I already sent him a nasty note telling him that he was an idiot and
KO made his company money and he was very good.

1. That is the only watchable show on that network
if they got rid of Keith, it would not be in their best interests.

3. I think the bosses @ G.E. want him gone.
So they bring in the utterly unwatchable Rita Cosby from Fox.

2. Idiot yes... now he can prove how much of an idiot he is.... and then
they can watch their ratings go in the toilet. Keith is the only reason that channel ever airs on my telly.

... and that made no difference.

But, can't talk to people trying to out-Fox Fox.

Y'know, when Bush implodes and the nation turns on him like a wounded wolverine in a trap, there's going to be a lot of TV executives saying, "how could I have been so stupid?"

Kaplan will be at the front of that line. :)

edit typo.

9.  What's the best of the worst case scenario?
Worst case is they fire him. What are the odds he would do a radio show or gets Current tv rolling, if that happened? And MSNBC loses us as viewers.

Hmmmmm.

Nope, still not a good enough silver lining. Time to call Mr. Kaplan a Grade-A Bastard.

*sigh* our work is never done.

13. Did you see the great feature he did on Cindy Sheehan?
No, neither did I. But that kid who landed in the stadium net, man that's some gooooooooood tee vee!

Oh, what a joy it is to turn on Keith and see Rita Cosby.

I think Keith has just vaulted over the edge of the shark tank, and is airborn over the middle. Well, nothing good lasts forever.

14. This is the email I just sent him
I used to watch MSNBC during different times of the day, and always turned on Keith Olbermann and Countdown religiously. I was a fan of MSNBC because it was a refreshing change from the crap on Fox and CNN. MSNBC was more "fair and balanced" than the other network that always claim that slogan. I always recommended it to my friends and family. I guess all good things come to a end. With the addition of that idiot Tucker Carlson and that Fox reject Rita Cosby, I've had it with your network. If I wanted to watch Fox News I would turn on Fox News. Your network has now become another network of right wing talking heads (Scarborough, Buchanan, Carlson, Cosby) and irrelevant news (Runaway bride, All Aruba all the time, etc). I will still watch from 6-7 when Keith is on, but all other times of the day I'll just channel skip on by. I can get more and better news on the Internet anyway anymore.

17. Amy Goodman had a good segment on Smoking yesterday

She indicated that the smoking industry sues people at the drop of the hat and uses its advertising clout to keep the networks from reporting on smoking deaths...

She also indicated the are the biggest funders of tort reform so people can't sue them

19. Here's the one I just sent him
Congratulations Rick! Keep up the good work and your viewership ratings may beat Bush's approval ratings in the race to the bottom! I don't know what you are trying to accomplish at MSNBC, but if it has anything to do with driving viewers away, you are succeeding at your mission. I used to watch Hardball with Chris Matthews, but I couldn't stomach it any more after Chris's "Church Week" series. If I would at all care what members of a mega-church or the Family Research Council thought about current events, I'd watch CBN instead of Hardball.

Whomever came up with the idea of giving Tucker Carlson his own show should be shot. There are enough shows already with blowhard, big mouthed, screaming, opinionated conservatives to pick from. If I was interested in that drivel at all, I would watch Hannity over on Fox.

Then somebody apparently had a REALLY GOOD idea and hired Rita Cosby to host a show. What a piece of work. Is there a requirement for her show that says you can only be interviewed if you have a southern accent? How long does it take you folks to find tragic events occurring in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and the Carolinas for Rita to cover? That story she did on the "Runaway Bride" cutting grass deserves a special award for journalistic excellence! Oh, and by the way, tell Rita that I can get all the Natalie Holloway updates I want from Joe Scarborough over at Scarborough country...which is now obviously located on an elementary school campus somewhere in Alabama. Judging from the content of his show, he seems to be working toward raising his viewer numbers in the elementary school or high-school drop out category. I mean really Rick, how many updates from Aruba and interviews with Natalie Holloway's relatives can anybody be subjected to without going mad?

The only thing I watch on MSNBC any more is Keith Olbermann. His show is the only show your sorry network has that is worth more than a bucket of semi-warm spit.

Keep up the good work Rick, and good luck with your race to the sub-basement of network ratings.
