Political Compass Test - Where do you stand?
Anyone ever taken the Political Compass Test?

http://www.politicalcompass.org

I know this pops up every now and then, but I think the site has changed their questions and I'm interested to see where everyone stands.

I am lower left...

Economic Left/Right: -7.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.33

How about you?

14. No, you're thinking of the world's smallest political quiz
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 09:05 PM by dissent1977
That one is definately skewed towards conservative Libertarians. This one uses libertarian in a more general sense, in that a libertarian supports strong civil liberties but it has nothing to do with economics. A socialist can be a Libertarian and this test shows that, whereas the World's smallest political quiz makes it look like all Libertarians are Capitalists. This test is far more accurate.

On Edit: Here is the link http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
Just by the title you should be able to tell that the people who made this quiz are not neutral, they are trying to get certain responses.

27. no problem
Women's right to choose: A woman has an unconditional right to choose.

Gay marriage: Gay marriage should be recognized as fully equivalent to heterosexual marriage federally, with no opt-out by states. Furthermore, marriage should be fully generalized to accommodate e.g. polyamory and/or platonic relationships so long as there is informed consent.

National healthcare: Healthcare should be nationalized and universal to all permanent residents of the US.

Environmental protection: The environment should be not only protected, but industries also made to pay costs of "limited environmental damage" to the affected communities.

Affirmative action: Needs to be reinstituted in full force, with aggressive reparations made to Native American and African American communities in the forms of monetary reparations, land grants of the most valuable land to the community in some form (e.g. partial ownership in companies developing on the lands), and so on.

Government control over factors of production: This should be based on long-term efficiency. Where economies of scale are incredibly large, or very-long-term interests are involved, industries should be nationalized by governmental fiat. This includes healthcare, electrical power, gasoline/oil/etc., and several others.

Education: The government should fully subsidize education through undergraduate on a 100% basis, and at the graduate level based on merit modulo affirmative action.

Private property ownership: Corporate personhood should be abolished, and private land ownership should be heavily regulated to preferentially grant land ownership to the working class (e.g. property tax restricted to large, particularly valuable, or corporate land ownership).

Media control: The government should have no role whatsoever in controlling the content of the media (apart from enforcing slander, libel, and fraud laws), but should heavily regulate access to broadcasting methods (internet, frequencies, etc.) in order to grant individuals and small groups access where they would otherwise be denied it. In particular, things like portfiltering and barring persons from self-hosting on the internet should be illegal. Private citizens should be able to broadcast on radio frequencies and cable channels at no cost beyond that of recording and/or broadcasting equipment, with no restrictions whatsoever on their content, apart from barring jamming of others' broadcasts.

I'd like to tack on the following also:

All acts done with informed consent of all parties involved should be explicitly legal, including narcotics/drug usage of any kind, euthanasia, suicide, unusual sexual preferences, and so on.
