What a wet miserable day it started out to be. Thank God for Rain X because my wipers are out. Kirstie and I pulled in about 3, and we were so excited to see how many more people there were! At least a hundred all at once! And streaming in slowly but surely! It was absolutely amazing to see the amount of people there.
We walked up to where most folks were, and Cindy was being interviewed by NBC. I took a few pictures and kept going around looking for familiar faces. Each day, the familiar faces become more and more. Then we saw the beautiful big dog, and my daughter fell in love. The owner of the dog,(Code Pink, didnt catch her name) let my daughter take him for a walk, so they walked off together, and I didnt have a worry in the world that shed be fine.
Then here comes the Sherriff. Several cops started coming. We were told that we would have to remove our cars from one end of the triangle to another end. So of course we all complied. THEN, the 'nice' old man that had showed up on the four wheeler not three days earlier, was found cussing and hollering at Diane (Code Pink) as I had parked my car near them. We had moved all our cars to HIS side. He was pretty mad. "Dont tell ME about pain, lady..My son in law is on that cocaine..blah blah, and I KNOW ABOUT PAIN GODDAMMIT!" Diane was always cool as a cucumber.
Then I noticed what was obviously either plain clothes cops, or freeper types right there in this old man's driveway, talking to 2 cops. Later, I saw Diane over talking to them again, then I could hear her say "I KNOW my rights...dont THINK I dont know my rights" and it was pretty loud. Guess it is taking its toll on her. Then Diane and one of the cops walked over to the cars....
After falling in the ditch, which is slick with mud, and me winding up falling against my car and getting a nice bruise on my arm, Kirstie and I helped move one of the things that covers the food...the word escapes me now..but its a tent without walls lol... We moved the ice chests and the food and the water, along with several others. I think this was the third or fourth time this thing has been moved. The cops are not getting into anyone's faces, but are starting to get a little more agitated and a lot more silly about what parts of the road are public, private..I was told that if even ONE INCH of a person's tire was on the asphalt, they would have them towed, and if you tried to stop it, youd be arrested on the spot.
As we left, because the situation was not so good with a six yr old, Everyone decided it was probably best to just do shuttles from the peace house. Chances are good that there may be no cars out there tomorrow, just shuttles of vehicles taking people back and forth.
We left and stopped at the Peace House, where things are much calmer. I met a few more Gold Star families, and Met SoniaS for the second time! Hey girl:hi:! I had actually passed her in Belton, but wasnt sure who she was until we got there. I knew because of her very cool tie die peace sign shirt.
Saw Will, hey Will!:hi: and reminded him we had met a couple years ago at Mother Eagans'(sp) in Austin, when we were all hoping that we could get potato head out of office. 'sigh*
Also met anarchy1999, and Scott, who was with Will, from Truthout. Cindy looks like she is actually feeling better, and was in good spirits. She must have finally gotten some sleep, because she looked so much better.
Ill add more If I think of it, and will post my pics later tonight.
Edited to add..I met Snot too!!! Great person! that username makes me laugh my head off.
