KWTX calls off "Pro-Troop" Rally
Because of another DU thread, I sent this e-mail to Evan Armstrong of KWTX.

From: <IMModerate>
Sent: Wednesday, August 10, 2005 17:54
To: Armstrong, Evan
Subject: You say you are pro-troops. But...

Bringing them home is the best thing we could do for those troops. They wouldn't be shot at.

Why don't you hold a rally protesting their lack of armor and other equipment, or the lack of a war plan, or the lies of George Bush that put them in unnecessary danger?

Yours is a pro-Bush and pro-War rally. You don't really care about the welfare of the troops.

Here is the reply. (About 10:30 PM EDT)

Please be advised that due to lack of local interest, the pro-troop rally tentatively scheduled by KWTX-AM, KLFX-FM for this coming Saturday will not be taking place. Please tune into KWTX-AM, KLFX-FM on Monday for comprehensive news coverage and commentary on developments related to the Iraq war protest organized by Mrs. Cindy Sheehan, scheduled to be held in Crawford this Saturday.

I'm sure others sent their messages too.

3. Someone else mentioned that this may be a ploy.......
to reduce the numbers of people that might turn out to support Cindy Sheehan. Remember, the opposition has stooped to dirty tricks like this in the past.

Cindy Sheehan supporters should show up regardless of whether they expect anti-Cindy protestors to show up!

4. Ha Ha!!!! They couldn't get any actual "troops" to show up
That's my take on it.

They were planning to bring local troops to show support for **, from what I heard. Sounds like that went over like a lead balloon.

6. The troops exist to ensure that Cindy Sheehan has the right to do
what she is doing. I know that for a fact. Rich right-wingers using and paying troops to protest against the right to protest stinks worse than the hog farm I used to live on. And they know it. But the filthy pig Karl Rove probably thought it was worth a try. Until some real military men informed him how self defeating and hypocritical his bribe was.

7. Lets make sure they don't dare do anything like it....
Supporting the killing of more innocent american troops isn't just dispicable and wrong, its downright treasonous.

Of course that is the other way around according to O'Lielly and Novak.
