That means that the '90s practice of every Washington bureau of calling members of the bar to see who has hired whom is about to heat back up. The first one to report someone hiring a criminal lawyer wins a prize, as does the first person who develops that lawyer as a source on all this.

This IS a huge story. Beyond huge possibly. The White House deliberately outing an undercover agent in the press? Next to W getting caught with a twelve-year-old boy or finding a Swiss Bank Account in the name of "K. Rove," it's not going to get bigger.

A lesson to all you young people out there: This is the danger in playing with conspiracy theories. You actually miss the real scandals, because you assume all the bad stuff is kept hidden by some cabal of Haliburton execs and three Jews in a castle in Munich.

Has it occured to you that two members of the White House staff worked together to commit treason, and that this is the very definition of a "conspiracy theory"?

TheBoss is correct. There is about a serious as it gets and the idea that the BFEE is using this story to cover up an even bigger story is silly. Unless Bush is found in bed with a dead boy, it doesn't get any bigger than this.

10. Difference between conspiracy and 'conspiracy theory'

Conspiracies take place every day in DC to get some piece of legislation passed or someone fired or someone's name on tv. All these conspiracies are of differing degrees of legality. There could very well have been a conspiracy in the White House to out this person. In fact, I assume there had to be. I can't imagine that one staffer did something like this on a flyer.

"Conspiracy theories" are a different animal all together. This are the things were we wonder why all the Jews skipped work on September 11 or if a missle hit the Pentagon and not an airplane. These are often the product of an excitable mind and are a distraction from real crimes.

What I am saying is, if you are the type to believe that the Bush Administration planned 9/11, placed explosive charges in the World Trade Center, ordered an A-10 to attack the Pentagon, and the hid the plane containing Barbara Olsen, then, well, a simple White House leak looks pretty boring. On the other hand, if you are of a more sober mindset, the idea that the White House is leaking the names of CIA operatives in order to extract political revenge is shocking and detestable.

This is a simple case of petty revenge, executed by small-minded men with thin skins and thick skulls. In their towering arrogance, they felt they could play fast and loose, as they always have done.

The one might, or might not, bring them down. But with each petty atrocity, the scales of Justice tip further and further away from Team Shrub.
