Cindy Sheehan Needs Your Help; ClearChannel Stations "Cancel" Anti-Sheehan BBQ http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/8/10/104739/859by patrioticliberal Wed Aug 10th, 2005 at 07:47:39 PDT Thanks to your efforts, this diary at the very least has helped raise $1,380.18 (at least, that is, posted in this diary). According to Cindy in her latest diary, they've received more than $30,000 due to generosity from supporters. If you can still spare some change or some items (chairs, blankets, umbrellas, food and water, coffee, tarps/ canopy, flashlights and batteries, wet wipes, bug spray, ice chests/ ice, camcorders, Gatorade or Emergen-C, and spray misters) to donate, please do.
In addition, thanks to your efforts, it appears that the stations that were to hold the Anti-Sheehan rally (masked as a Pro-Troops/Pro-Bush rally in Crawford, TX) have supposedly backed off, although we will be keeping our eyes open to see if they are being truthful. The host, "JACK HAMMER", is also a real ass.

Anderson Cooper Chickens Out Anderson Cooper was scheduled to have Cindy Sheehan on his show last night, live, from Camp Casey, but he chickened out. His website and promo said he would interview her. That interview never happened. Please go to his website and send an email to complain to him: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360 .
MOVEON.ORG to Help Cindy Sheehan!
Cindy Sheehan was not an anti-war activist, but the loss of her son and the mounting evidence of deception by the Bush administration pushed her to speak out. While Cindy camps roadside in Texas, dozens of other military moms are flying to Texas to join her. Her story is starting to grab national attention, but Cindy needs our support. We're asking moms (and dads, siblings, spouses and kids) from all across America to help send a message by signing our letter of support to Cindy. Will you sign? http://political.moveon.org/meetwithcindy
On Status of Anti-Sheehan Protest Early Wednesday morning, word spread, initially from a comment at RawStory.com, that some stations in Crawford might be sponsoring an anti-Sheehan barbecue, sponsored by KWTX 1230 AM (Fox News Radio, Waco, TX, at 1-254-776-3900, not associated with the TV station of the same name), KLFX 107.3 "The Fox Rocks " (1-254-699-5000) , 102.5 FM, and one more that was forgotten at the time of writing. The barbecue was to take place in the lot NEXT TO the Crawford Bank, and a host named "JACK HAMMER", who is a sexist Republican pig, would be there. They stated they would offer free burgers and Coca-Cola. Ed Schultz' staff contacted the Crawford bank, and they wanted to let everyone know that they were never involved whatsoever in this event, and that they were very upset at the radio station's using the name of their institution in their advertisements for this anti-American barbecue. The bank was NOT sponsoring it and is not involved in any of the nastiness by the station(s). Schultz also had a reporter call in who stated that the Ft. Hood military were being ENCOURAGED to show up. Evan Armstrong, general manager, later tried to make it a "Pro-Bush, Pro-Troops" rally, but the fact is, people clearly heard (including Thom Hartmann's show engineer, among others) that it was an anti-Sheehan rally. If you called as a normal Bush supporter rather than an enraged DailyKos/Democratic Underground reader, you were given that information. Fortunately, plenty of DailyKos and DemocraticUnderground readers gave the stations a piece of their mind, and Evan Armstrong, who is general manager of a rock station and a. Fox News Radio station, states that it is cancelled. It is not clear if he can be trusted. Here's their website: http://www.newstalk1230.com/main.html . You might be fascinated by their GOP Babes of the Week. Here are two emails from Evan: EARLIER: "Armstrong, Evan" wrote: In no way are making a PR event out of Cindy Sheehan's loss. This is a pro troops rally and we have had Cindy Sheehan on KWTX-AM last Monday to voice her cause. Thanks for your response. We welcome everyones opinion on this matter. LATER, BACKPEDDLING: Armstrong, Evan" <EvanArmstrong@clearchannel.com > wrote: Please be advised that due to lack of local interest, the pro-troop rally tentatively scheduled by KWTX-AM, KLFX-FM for this coming Saturday will not be taking place. Please tune into KWTX-AM, KLFX-FM on Monday for comprehensive news coverage and commentary on developments related to the Iraq war protest organized by Mrs. Cindy Sheehan, scheduled to be held in Crawford this Saturday. Keep your eyes open. I wouldn't be surprised if they just moved the date/location. These are sick, sick people. KWTX is a Fox News Radio station. Evan is a right-winger.
Joe Trippi's Plea for Help for Cindy
Joe Trippi has posted this at JoeTrippi.com and it is crossposted at Democrats.com as a plea for help for Cindy Sheehan, who is sick.
I just got off of the phone with Jodie Evans, who is with Cindy in Crawford right now. They had 3 and a half inches of rain last night. The camp is flooded, all of their supplies are soaked. Even worse, Cindy is running a fever and has a sore throat. They really need your help. We are trying to dig out anyone who can volunteer to go to the camp and bring them fresh materials - umbrellas, chairs, blankets, etc... They are having a terrible time acquiring these things on their own, so they really are depending on us to help them out quickly. If anyone can do anything to help, please send an email to meetwithcindy@gmail.com - we can answer questions, give you directions, or send Cindy your thoughts. Thanks,Joe
We can't let Cindy down! Please help Cindy Sheehan if you can as Joe mentions above. Ignore the poll if you don't like it (I can't delete it), but PLEASE help Cindy.
"How Can I Help?" 1. Please recommend this diary so others can help Cindy. And yes, I'll keep the email for meetwithcindy here; if it's posted at Joe Trippi's site and at Democrats.com, it'll be posted here. Stop whining and actually help. Thanks :) . 2.DIRECT LINK TO HELP: http://www.crawfordpeacehouse.org or Gold Star Families for Peace - http://www.gsfp.org . For supplies, they need water, veggies, plastic sheeting and other waterproofing coverings.
3. Seattle-ites:
