Anyone else getting sick of hearing that after 9/11, * had the
whole country behind him? I cringe everytime I hear that. I remember at the time thinking that this SOB is going to manipulate this event politically because political posturing was all we had seen from him. Remember the hanging out at the pig far and looking presidential posturing he did during the 2000 recount? The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

1. You know...
...I hate to admit it but in the days right after Sept.11 I was kinda behind the guy. I remember thinking that he was an asshole but he's the asshole we have to rely on now. That lasted about 2 weeks.

2. He didn't have the WHOLE country behind him, only the sellouts and
the idiots. The rest of the world wasn't too thrilled with him either. Just Poodle and some other quisling leaders. The people recognized him for the dangerous sociopath that he is.

4. *raises hand*
I didn't say anything critical of him, but no, I still did not support or trust him.

17. I have never even remotely considered trusting or supporting
him. I was just as critical of him after 9/11 as I had been before. Probably even moreso as I knew he was going to use 9/11 to cram his agenda down everyone's throats. I was at home sick on 9/11 and when I saw the coverage of a plane crashing into one of the towers, my absolute first thought was that Dubya was behind it. Then when Dubya gave some speech and talked about the "shining beacon of freedom" or something similar, I immediately added "led by one dim bulb." Then again, I suppose you might consider that being supportive in the relative sense as I usually call him MUCH worse.

6. I am. But, remember Congress after 9/11?
All standing together, singing, and whatnot? I think that's what is meant when people say he had the whole country behind him. And besides, a freaking 90% approval rating might as well be 100%. The rest of us just got lost in the noise.

but I still thought Dubya was a worthless grandstander in the days following 9/11.

Sorry, but I have NEVER and NEVER will support a dictator puppet like Lancelot Link. Plus, my mind simply REELED at the repeated footage of his non-reaction to all of the catastrophic death. That's the event that kind of made me believe that something was just a TAD fishy about all of this.

18. I had no reason to trust him prior to 9/11...
... so there was no reason to trust him after 9/11. The sudden appearance of several hundred pages' worth of Patriot Act and a fully-fledged war on Afghanistan shortly after 9/11 convinced me that any trust would be misplaced.

And that hasn't changed in the intervening years.

22. Support Him? For What?
Sitting in a classroom full of kids while the WTC burned,
then doing a flying tour of military airbases until the
dust settled?

What kind of leadership is that?

Was I supposed to support him for his speech in which he announced a Crusade?

23. Absolutely.
Too many things were fishy about the way the 9/11 narrative developed. I immediately suspected a false flag operation. :tinfoilhat:

And that speech in front of Congress a few days later. Creeeepy. What are we? Imperial Rome?

5. I got in a lot of fights about it with people who were supposed to be
liberal. One of them even praised his speech, and I just snorted.

Later she admitted to me that I had been right. But at the time she thought I was crazy.

What I get sick of hearing is that "we were all united". The two statements overlap but are not the same thing.

We were NOT all united. RWers felt free to attack Clinton/Dems/Liberals even before the towers collapsed. And then there was that heavy hammering of "God" (e.g., "GOD Bless America!..), just to stick it to atheists.

I turned to my wife and said, "Now, THAT, is the most dangerous thing that asshole has said this entire speech." However, I do remember opining on some blog that *overall* I thought his post-9/11 speech was a good attempt at uniting the country...for an idiot.

29. I never "liked" him
I was supportive of him after 9/11. I was almost glad he was president in some ways. Too bad he pretty much fu*ked up Afghanistan after starting out so well. He was still doing alot of other little things I didn't like. I took Iraq to make me totally hate him.
