Former Mayor Vouches For OKC Airport Bombing Suspect
The guy may be totally innocent BUT he needs to be looked at and his case processed like everyone else taken into custody by chimps' people....if no one can vouch for THEM to get charges dropped, then no one should be able to vouch for this guy.

A former Oklahoma City mayor says a man arrested for carrying an explosive device in an airline carry-on bag is a "fine young man and no terrorist."

Charles Dreyling was taken into custody yesterday at the Will Rogers World Airport security checkpoint.

Ex-Mayor Kirk Humphreys, who also is Dreyling's landlord, says Dreyling created what he called a "glorified firecracker" and forgot it was in his luggage. No details have been provided as to why or how Dreyling created the device. An assistant US attorney describes the device as a carbon-dioxide cartridge with a black-power detonator.

Dreyling, 24, was going through the security checkpoint at Will Rogers World Airport on Wednesday when a Transportation Security Administration employee noticed something suspicious in his bag on the X-ray machine, Johnson said.

9. Yep..repuke who lost to Coburn in their repuke 2004 primary
Gee, I missed that part of the Patriot Act---where if a repuke says "he's a good guy" and everything is dropped and forgotten. Maybe the former mayor could tell us what page that is on....

2. This is insane.
A man built a freakin' homemade bomb, tried to bring it on a plane, and was caught. WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED TO KNOW?!!! I don't care if he's white, black or brown. You don't build a bomb, stick it (for whatever reason) in your luggage, somehow fail to notice it when you're packing for your trip, and then forget it's there!
If this OKC mayor delivers this crap line at trial, they should slap him with perjury.

6. Past time here.
It is very odd, but 'bomb-building' is a hobby among a few here in OK. I found this out when I was working at a university here and the first month after my arrival, was called back to campus for a 'bomb threat.' The student was building one to go "blow up pasture for fun!" I was shocked. No one was hurt, but it startled many people.

8. Oh don't I know it.
I lived in Missouri for four years. Knew a guy with the same habit.

But who builds one of these things, puts it in their luggage, and then forgets it's there -- and doesn't see it when he packs his luggage? I mean, isn't that insulting our intelligence?

The guy I know who liked making pipe bombs and whatnot used to keep all his materials in a shed -- wouldn't even bring them in the house.

5. Yes
"How to make a million dollars, and not pay taxes"

Step 1: Make a million dollars
Step 2: Don't pay your taxes
Step 3: When the IRS comes to your door, tell them, "I forgot". "I forgot I had to pay taxes."

It's a very adapatable strategy!

"I forgot it was illegal to carry bombs onto planes."
"I forgot it was illegal to embezzle 8.1 billion dollars."

etc...
