Well, well. Shrub knows Cindy exists!
Snipped from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/bush

Cindy Sheehan has been camped along a road near Bush's ranch since Saturday, asking to talk to Bush about her son Casey and vowing to remain until his Texas vacation ends later this month. Casey was killed five days after he arrived in Iraq last year. He was 24.

"I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan," Bush said. "She feels strongly about her position, and she has every right in the world to say what she believes. This is America. She has a right to her position, and I thought long and hard about her position. I've heard her position from others, which is: Get out of Iraq now. And it would be a mistake for the security of this country and the ability to lay the foundations for peace in the long run if we were to do so."

By Thursday, about 50 people had joined Sheehan's cause, pitching tents in muddy, shallow ditches and hanging anti-war banners; two dozen others have sent flowers. Her name was among the most popular search topics Wednesday on Internet blogs.

1. His 'people' have told him what to say...
Something tells me the shrub we know would NOT be empathetic, and would do everything in his power to silence this woman, or to at least make sure no one else would hear her.

Am I alone in thinking this?

2. I wish I didn't know he existed
then maybe I wouldn't wake up every night in a cold sweat worrying about the future of this country.

Anyway, this is my first post. I'm not one to normally join groups or clubs, but living in TN is pretty tough when you hate all things Republican. At least I live in Memphis where we still are colored blue...

That's about it. Just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Blue in TN
:scared:

10. Only a few weeks
But I am getting better at this interthingy. It is nice to know there are people who feel the way I do. Sometimes I feel as if I am adrift in a sea of madness.

Then I realize only half the sea is mad and red like blood. The other half is blue the way the sea should be.:P

Thank you for the warm welcome.

11. Welcome to DU
I'm in a purple state myself. In 2000 we needed the Supreme Court to decide we were red.

Actually, I'm in a very red district and DU goes back and forth between reassuring me I'm not alone and scaring the hell out of me, LOL.

Glad you decided to jump in.

13. ARGH!
"Get out of Iraq now. And it would be a mistake for the security of this country and the ability to lay the foundations for peace in the long run if we were to do so."

How is the security of this country enhanced by sending more cash, more soldiers, and more WMDs to Iraq? It didn't protect London, did it?

What kind of insanity bases it's argument on Bombing for Peace? War begets War, Mr. Bush, it is an ever escalating spiral of violence. Your actions and your words put this nation in ever greater danger, not ever greater peace. That is the reality we live in. Face reality.

15. But the coward punked out on saying he'd talk to her, didn't he?
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 03:09 PM by Redstone
I can't tell for sure because I was in a bar when it was on CNN (No, no, you STOP thinking that! I was eating lunch!) and the closed-captioning somehow blipped out.

But boy, I sure could see the manufactured grimaces when he got the cues:

-"Look heartbroken for fifteen seconds, starting in three!"

-"OK, now 'deeply concerned facial expression #12' for forty seconds!"

-"All right, we'll wrap up with expression #34-A, 'All this awesome responsibility lies SO heavily upon my shoulders' right up the the cut when you ask for the next question, got it?"

19. I don't think any of us really thinks he's going to break down
and talk with her. Well, at least I don't. Doesn't mean I don't support her and applaud her, because I do.

I just feel he's going to be a big fat coward on this...
