A Marine just called Ed Schultz to criticize Cindy Sheehan...
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 04:51 PM by kentuck
He said he would be terribly disappointed if his mother were to do something like that if were killed like Cindy's son. Also, said he and others were fighting for the "American way". After all, look at what happened in London and on 9/11. He agreed with George W Bush that it would send the wrong signal if we were to withdraw now. Ed Schultz handled it very well, under the circumstances, without dishonoring his service. Ed told him that he was fighting for a lie - not the American way...interesting call.

11. If he's calling in, he ain't calling in from Fallujah
Maybe he needs to spend some time in the sandbox, and THEN let us know how he feels. He probably is the janitor or the guy behind the cash register in the convenience store at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot...but hey, close enough for a republican!!

I'd love to question guys like this, asking them about their assignment history, their specialty, paygrade, and so on. Something simple like "What are you getting paid every month?" can tell volumes (even the biggest bullshit artist doesn't have the payscale memorized!). You can sometimes spot the fakes in a hurry with a few quick questions.

7. If he still thinks 9/11 and Iraq were connected...
then there's little you can do to argue with him. It goes a long way in showing his knowledge of the subject.

I assume he's been to Iraq, and seeing as I haven't, I can't argue with his service in that respect. But seeing as he still believes in a 9/11-Iraq connection, one can see that he's not getting the proper information to begin with.

14. Last week
When those Marines died from the unit here in Cleveland, they had one of the mothers on the news and when asked if she had anything to say to bush she said "Not that could be shown on television". She went on to talk about the illegal war and had nothing but harsh words for the administration. She said she was against the war from the start and after her son found out it was all bullshit, he was against it also.
I guess the Marine that called Schultz, being alive and everything, has a little less of a powerful message than the mothers of the soldiers that are not able to call into talk shows.

where many Americans are than Al Franken or Stephanie Miller...but please don't throw brick bats or stuff at me for saying this.

He's tried his best and probably will sway more folks to our side with a little honey than all of "my ranting" will ever do..here on DU.

So a "tip of the hat" and a :toast: to Ed Schultz. I might not agree with him as a "Lefty Populist" but he's doing a great job of getting some "middle or righty waverings" clued in and potentially on our side.
