Last trip this evening back to the site.
BTW, the reason I'm able to post from here is that I'm using our antique (5 y/o laptop) and I'm staying in a motel with internet access.
My teenage daughter (the trooper) helped me get up and running. It was such a relief to get on to DU last night.
It's a little noisy here, we're just off I-35, and to call our accommodations modest would be generous.
However, I'm not spending much time here, so the access is all I care about.
Late this afternoon, the Peace House was packed, no parking, so I just drove by and went right back to the site.
The crosses are now lining the road to the "ranch". It's breath-taking.
I met another DU'er, the lovely and charming liveoaktx. She has some terrific video that she'll be posting later.
One of the TV reporters from Waco was there and "interviewed" each of us. It was very funny, because we were supposed to part of his report with snippets of our answers, supposedly spontaneous, yet so prepped.
He said he'd like to ask each of us "an easy question". At which point his cameraman said,"Actually, he only knows how to ask easy questions." (no love lost there, LOL)
So, the question is "where are you from?" and he actually muffed it when he asked liveoaktx...LOL. Just verified my already cynical view of the media.
As the two of us were talking, a car drove by, with Cindy as a passenger. She waved and smiled at us, and it was impossible not to smile back.
Arianna Huffington described Cindy's impact more eloquently than I ever could, and she just talked to her on the phone.
Oh no, here I go, tearing up again. Again, I am grateful for the opportunity to personally see Cindy "be the change."
Anyway, it was quiet when I left tonight. A sheriff's deputy cruised the "encampment" road, but didn't bother anyone.
I plan to be at the Peace House very early in the morning, helping get the supplies together for those who stayed with her overnight.
Will Pitt was arriving as I was leaving. I'm glad he'll be staying there tonight, as a very credible witness if anything untoward occurs.
Those who does not already have a tent pitched would have to sleep in their car. As you all can imagine, I'm already trying to figure out how to do this for tomorrow night.
Anyway, I'm going to have a quick dinner and early bedtime. I wish I could stay here for much longer.
I'm tired but energized. MKJ
