The factoid during every commercial break: ie, what corporation spent the most money on lobbying last year?

Answer: the Pharamcutical Corporations spent 178 million dollars last year in lobbying.

178 MILLION DOLLARS!!! on blow jobs and parties with our elected officals and they have the gal to claim that patient law suits are the reason drugs cost so much.

I saw an interesting piece about life in the largest slum in the world and what life is like there. I also found out what life is like for Iranian teenagers, Japanese teenagers, how to breastfeed, what kind of cool sunglasses people are wearing right now in LA, a pod by a guy that it in Paris Hilton's cell phone and how to protect yourself from identity thef, I saw the original footage from Reagans assassenation attempt in the current TV time capsule, and then they were nice enough to list off atleast 20 bands that rock but aren't allowed on to Clear Channel.

In short if the folks in Crawford aren't emailing their videos of what it's like at the protest then we are wasting a valuable opportunity. Send it to current they are begging for people to send them more stuff to put on TELEVISION.

It just takes time when people are working and have a little learning curve ahead of them. I am impressed by Currents' commitment to the Internet. Camp Casey should make it on Currents by Tuesday is my guess. There will be a swelling this weekend and the cameras will be there in force.

A video/computer expert or two at or around Peace House would be extremely valuable in amplifying Cindy Sheehan. With all the outsourcing it could be we get lucky on that with qualified volunteers to help the future Current contributors.

But besides that, just how does someone who hobbies with video have an outlet for their compositions? It has to happen. There is no real outlet except Currents. Just be patient. The fact that Currents is an available outlet means people will take advantage of the the new situation instead of staying home.

It also shows that the war opposition lacks money and maturity. Criminals in government acting as representatives for America Inc. are going to bring out the true patriots. Camp Casey is a call for action and it will be answered.

10. Content, meet outlet

Things could not be better in that Current needs content and the anti-war movement needs outlets.

There is nothing like Current on television. Al Gore has invented something this time. I share your excitement over its revolutionary concept.

Look at this way though. Marc Emery was arrested in Canada for selling cannabis seeds and it is one huge deal up there because the US was behind it and want him extradited. He has money, staff, and a worthy cause in relegalizing cannabis. He runs pot-tv.com. He has the perfect storm for contributing to Current. Yet he hasn't. It could be fear of rejection or too much trouble or it is too new. The issue has put up 450 articles at Medpot.net and is all over Canadian media. And he would surely want to reach the US as they are the worlds prohibitionist badass. Yet, he hasn't.

Pathways take time. I would be mildly suprised if Camp Casey does not make it to Current in 5 days.

11. Still Looks Like Film Class Projects

I have watched on and off since they began...and it's a nice alternative...just like popping on Discovery or PBS or some of the independent local access programming, but the "hosts" and canned nature of things really don't do much for me.

There's no real news which is what is really needed on the tube. I miss NWI since they did fill that need of alternative and external media that was a welcome respite from the corporate media outlets. Now there's only BBCAmerica that pops on news now and then and little else.

Hopefully this is a useful outlet for those so motivated, but long term watching for this 50-something is very tedious at best.

14. I'll Be Glad With Reports From Camp Casey...

I saw reports on AIDs and other topics like those on NWI...and from the local networks. I've also seen similar programming (which I support) on my local PBS stations. There's also some interesting short and long-term documentary programs on these type of issues on the Discovery-Times Channel.

Yes, to each their own, and I wish the network well, but you'd think they would have reached out to many of the independent producers and video types on this site and others a while ago...a great resource.

I'll keep checking back and hope my opinion changes as the network starts to gets some experience.

I know that Rome wasn't built in a day....but in the world for McDonalds and Burger King, patience is no virtue...as it is practically unheard of.
