This whole notion of "Freedom" is bullshit!
I wish they would stop with all this "A Free People" and "Freedom is on the March" and "They Hate Us for Our Freedom" crap. We are NOT free, except within certain very narrow bounds! We live in a bureaucratic-authoritarian system based on usury, and my freedoms are actually quite few.

I want to be a hunter-gatherer! I want to roam the land foraging for fruits and nuts and hunting the occasional animal for meat. You think I'm really free to do that? BULLSHIT! The minute you see me eating YOUR blueberries, you're gonna call the cops and I'll spend some time in jail. FREEDOM my ass!

And then there's the fact that my wife, my mistress and my girlfriend and I would like to make it all legitimate. Do you really think I'm free to have 3 wives all legal and nice? BULLSHIT! I'm not really free! And what about our close friends, Jeff and Perry who've been together for 20 years? You think they are actually free to legitimize their relationship? FREEDOM my ass!

And hey... on my mother's side we've got some Carib Indian blood and I'm trying to rediscover some of the old ways. Do you REALLY think I'm free to conduct a human sacrifice so as to eat my victim's heart in order to gain his strength and wisdom? Even if it's consensual? FREEDOM MY ASS!!

OK... So maybe there aren't too many Hunting-Gathering Polyamorous Cannibals out there. Still the rhetoric of "Freedom" inside a fairly closed system is getting pretty old. Seriously, all I want to do is smoke a joint and relax when I get home from work. But I'm made to feel like a criminal for wanting to do so. And If I were to get caught? Goodbye "Freedom!"

1. I read somewhere (here?) that only the terrorists were free!
I guess that means that they set their own rules and don't live by anyone else's rules.

5. Freedom is an illusion......
We're not hated for 'our Freedom' - we're hated for using Freedom as an excuse to subjugate and oppress.

2. The "freedom" they are spreading is economic freedom, to wit:
unconstrained, unregulated corporate capitalism.

So, they are not lying.... they are just speaking a different language

3. Rummy himself equated lawlessness and anarchy as freedom
Remember the "freedom is messy" remark in response to the widespread looting after the invasion?

Of course, freedom isn't anarchy and liberty is not uncontrolled desire, and if it is guaranteed only by my personal power to take it or make it, then it isn't freedom but animal survival.

4. The only way to be completely free is to be completely alone
As long as there are people around you are going to run into them and they are gong to limit your freedoms - unless you are powerful enough to run over them.

I do think the American System probably does maximize freedom as much as it can be maximized within the context of a large Modern society - I certainly don't think it's perfect, but certainly better than many other parts of the world.

6. Such an astute group here!
If I'd posted this on a FREEPER site, they'd have said:

"Well then get your commie ass back to Cuba"

Or some such crap!

8. really
My mother (Repuke) and I got into some discussions last night…and we were talking about patriotism, the troops, etc…And she said we had to support the troops because they were fighting for our freedom.

I just can’t see this point of view. To me is totally emotional based…something they claim about Liberals.
