Here it is - What do you all think?
Here's what I've come up with for the design for the t-shirts I'm giving to the Crawford Peace House. I've been trying to get some input from the folks down there but haven't gotten very far yet. I've only got three hours to shipping time and I'd really like to get these out today.

So what do you all think? Good, bad, yes, no?

Thanks for all in the input and suggestion and thanks to Cronus Protagonist for the winning slogan.

PS: I'm also working on a second design using the Chickenhawk Crossing the Road joke but that will have to wait until Monday cause I've run into some snags with that one.

1. You just gave me
chills! I think it is lovely. Will these be available for purchase? I think I like that better than any shirt I have seen in a long time.

7. I'm sending these to the folks at the Crawford Peace House
I don't know what their plans are for selling them? I hope that we can work something out to make them available but I haven't crossed that bridge yet.

I was not intending to sell these myself since I normally only do wholesale and I'm not set up for doing retail.

2. Yellow is not the best color
Mind you, I don't know that white or pink would be either.

Too much nasty stuff can be read into it.

How about a nice red?

41. didn't
see your post- i agree, the peace rose is perfect- and close to a yellow rose, but with the blush of 'life'-

i hate to say it, but i have devoloped a kind of distaste for 'texas style everything' and the yellow rose song, seems too .... campy? upbeat for me- the yellow ribbons of the 80's made me dislike what i had been my FAVORITE color- now i love purple- entirely the other side of the color spectrum, and i'm older- so it's inevitible.

Sorry to have re-stated your suggestion. i think the shirts are beautiful, and could be pretty easily blushed-

21. Are yellow roses being sent to honor the tradition of yellow ribbons?
"A yellow ribbon is a symbol with various meanings, mostly associated with those waiting for the return of a loved one or of military troops who are temporarily unable to come home."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_ribbon

In that case, I'd keep those roses yellow. That color holds great significance in this case.

Here are some words that can be fitted into the song "Yellow Rose in Texas." This link will play the music automatically. - http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/yellowrose.htm

Yellow roses grow in Texas, far more than you can see,
A wrong calling for righting, is how they came to be.
We put them on the roadsides and we say in spirit we are here,
Take your war and shove it, is the only thing that's clear.

There's hard work to do in Texas, with a ditch to take a stand.
The heat is hot as blazes, the rain is not so grand.
You may have your bliss and comforts while you watch your big tv,
But truth and a change of course are the only things for me.

They did not ask for welcome or take invite to leave.
The times had called for action, to say what they believed.
They said to kill the fantasies and give all the lies a rest,
We came to tell a noble cause, we want the path that's best.

There's hard work to do in Texas, with a ditch to take a stand.
The heat is hot as blazes, the rain is not so grand.
You may have your bliss and comforts while you watch your big tv,
But truth and a change of course are the only things for me.

Power gave them silence, refused to give a bone.
Lies were tooled to bless the war, and drive true patriots home.
Camp Casey is a mobile place, exist in hearts of men,
The yellow rose we carry here carries on from then.

There's hard work to do in Texas, with a ditch to take a stand.
The heat is hot as blazes, the rain is not so grand.
You may have your bliss and comforts while you watch your big tv,
But truth and a change of course are the only things for me.

39. the peace rose is yellowish, with a blush of pink
and SO appropriate-
developed in 1945-

Your design is BEAUTIFUL and perfect- if you are using plastisol type screen ink, maybe folks could shade in a little pink with fabric pens on thier shirts-

You did a GREAT job- with the logo, AND the words-
simple, poigniant and appropriate.

wish i had one

suggest to perhaps add something to tie it to Cindy
--maybe small words near hands "Support Cindy Aug 05"
(I dunno exactly what-but I think it might benefit from a reference to the situation, less generic):)

How are you laying out the text in relation to the image? Just thinking that if you put the text under the image, you may be able to increase the size of the font---for easy reading at a distance.

I love it though, no matter the layout! Thanks for taking the time to do that. :patriot:

I would also love to have one and give some to friends.

Cindy's gentle hands holding these yellow roses can not only bring more attention to her loss but to all who have lost a loved one both here and in the ME. It is a simple statement done with such eloquence.

Please tell us if you shipped them today and when you think the people in Crawford will get them.

It was spendid of you to make this visible and enduring show of support. I look foward to seeing them worn in Camp Crawford. Won't it be full circle to see Cindy wearing her own hands on her shirt?

52. I love it!!!! I want one, and the Chickenhawk one too.
Good work! If you possibly can do color at some point, deeper blue (Cindy's raincoat made a terrific background for the roses) and deeper yellow for the flowers would be very pretty. But this is not a criticism -- you are doing a good deed.

As for the Chickenhawk, just ask the question "Why won't the Chickenhawk cross the road?" and leave the punchline to the reader's imagination. No more need be said. Of course the graphic is available online at the New Hampshire Gazette and other places.

Be well, and success in all you do,

Hekate
