I hope all the truckers pick one day all over the US and do what they did
in Florida.

Imagine all the semi's across the US just parked along all the roads.

12. Yes they do. They can park the truck and go to some other line of work..
If they protest, like they did in France, they will be arrested and thier trucks impounded by the highway patrol for blocking the freeways.

Besides, trucking is dominated by huge freight lines, not owner/operators.

Most of these drivers dont own the truck in the first place. The bank or the company does. They cant afford to strike for very long.

Prices will be going up, no doubt about it.

3. I hate to say this... but I agree...
When the trucks stop - America stops... Cold......

I paid $50 dollars to fill my tank today.....

The money is going directly to the 'executives' of <take your pick - Mobile/Exxon/ - shit I don't even know the names anymore>.

It is not because of supply.

It is not because of production.

It is strictly for greed.

I seem to remember that, who Roosevelt? broke up Standard Oil because it was a 'monopoly'. So what is happening now? The Oil Companies are forming..... Monopolies....

16. Comparing apples and oranges. Truckers are not slaves.
They have tried mass work stoppage in the past. It never worked.

5. this issue is bubbling into a full scale crisis
I'm personally being hurt by the gas prices, and theres really no end in sight.

The real problem here is you can't exactly protest the price of oil down :(

We're about to cross $3, then $4, then $5 and be priced equal to Europe.

This shit is no joke.

14. At least in Europe most of the cost of fuel is taxes, going into the
general fund, including public healthcare for all citizens.

Not so, here in the land of the corporate crooks where 45 million are without healthcare insurance.

We will be paying high prices for fuel and still NO healthcare plan in sight.

18. I wondered about that and asked some Brits
they said theres no healthcare taxes in gas in the UK

dont have enough facts to really know whats going on there, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were healthcare taxes... I always assumed that

20. So they would lose their jobs
and create a distraction on our highways. Shortages of goods would result, followed by higher prices.

Sorry, but I don't think that will solve this problem. It would send a message, but gas prices won't drop if truckers have a one day work stoppage.

22. True, but maybe people will wake up from our pwn complacency...
when they see prices skyrocket because, without truckers, and cheap energy, that "happy meal" becomes harder to get. We are entering an age of more expensive energy, and until we the people actually will wake up soon, there is no way for any smooth transition to alternatives.
