When I was one of you, I remember the rhetoric being along the lines of "I love my country... but I fear my government." It was all about individuals standing up for freedom and justice; indeed, you expostulated on the Second Amendment being a reinforcement for an always potentially aggressive government encroaching on our most basic, inalienable rights. Patriotism always had a healthy dose of rebellion, of standing up to the establishment, especially when said establishment is taking the country away from its original purpose.
So, what happened?
Now, when someone stands up to probably THE most untrustworthy government in this nation's history, one that is BENT on destroying freedom and liberty; what is your reaction? "How dare you?" or "Who does (s)he think (s)he is???" or "Why don't you get a life and stop hassling our President?"
What made you sell out? Those little tax cuts bought you off? I mean, Reagan I can understand; as an actor, he played the tough but avuncular wizened warrior quite well (though, like his other tough-guy buddy, John Wayne, never saw combat). He, AT LEAST, believed in his odd policies. But, now, look at the weasels you've sold your principles for: Bush and Cheney, two guys who laugh in your face, who make NO pretentions to the contrary of profitting for their own gain. Two guys who hid from the Vietnam War and, in the last election, smeared all those who served honorably for political gain. And I remember how my then-comrades used to always go on about Bill Clinton: "Never trust a draft-dodger!"
Back then (geez was it that long ago???) the media heroes of the movement were Buckley, Friedman, Reagan, Sowell, Buchanan, Rothbard. Limbaugh was just easing into vogue, and because he had a sense of humor at the time, there was something infectious about him. But, now, look at your "heroes": O'Reilly, Coulter, Malkin, Savage, Medved, PHIL HENDRIE AND DENNIS MILLER for cryin' out loud; all of whom are nothing more than whorish, opportunistic ideologues-for-hire! These are the people that you'll shell out your $1 for at your neocon book club; apparently, even you don't REALLY see much value in their message, otherwise you'd willingly pay full price for these "gems."
If it comes out that even the WTC/911 attack was nothing but a calculated move to ultimately have Haliburton take over Iraq, will you wake your asses up then? How far down the path of evil are you willing to travel with this vermin?
NO NO, don't answer yet, think it over. You still have time (not a whole lot, it would seem).
