I have an AIDS auction to work tonight so if I don't get back to you please be careful and have an excellent trip.

211. Not for me it isn't!
Houston was a piece of cake for me but I have been so horribly, miserably lost just trying to get around Dallas that once I pulled over and cried! I almost got smashed by a big truck there once too. I am usually fine once I get past it but I have a horrible Dallas phobia now.

233. Forget Dallas, take the Fort Worth route instead. MUCH BETTER
traffic, much easier to navigate, less congestion and construction and you end up in the same place a happier more sane person.

Leaving the airport (I assume you are flying) go out the south entrance.Follow the signs to Fort Worth..

183 to 121 to I35W south. Piece O'Cake.

and if you really do decide to do this, PM me, if the timeing is not when I am at work, I will try to help you out, but stay out of Dallas and route yourself the western way.

46. Does Dean and the Democratic Party stand with Cindy?
Of course the people who know the truth about Iraq stand with Cindy but WTF is up with Dean and the Democratic Party. It is time for them to wake up and take a stand for truth and justice.

An interesting article on the subject...

Cindy Sheehan’s Message Repudiates George Bush -- and Howard Dean

Cindy Sheehan -- and many other people who have joined her outside the presidential gates in Crawford, and millions of other Americans -- understand that. And they’re willing to say so. They have rejected not only the rabid militarism of the Bush administration but also the hollowed-out pseudo-strategic abdication of moral responsibility so well articulated by Howard Dean.

154. I agree, absolutely
This movement is by the people, for the people...

however, politicians are the ones who got us into this mess, and they are the ones that ultimately must get us out. The Dems in the House and Senate, even after the revelations of the Downing Street Minutes, voted to give Bush all the money he wants to continue the illegal and immoral war in Iraq. They are all looking like they will be happy to go along with Iran as well.

Howard Dean travels speaking to the Democratic Party, collecting money from the democrats but is NOT speaking FOR the democrats, nor the majority in ths country when he says 'we have to stay the course'. I also noticed that he was in Texas when Cindy started this vigil but did not stop by.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have been going along with Bush every step of the way. Our government is supposed to work for us, and now is the time to raise our collective voices and demand that they do that. Either they are stupid, in which case we educate them, or they are corrupt, in which case we expose them. Cindy has been working hard for over a year now, before this protest, to change minds in congress and get our congressional members to take some action, so I am sure that Standing with Cindy also includes the rest of us demanding action from congress as well. Now is the time, we have the power, we have the momentum, and they too are on vacation. If folks cannot make it to Crawford, why not take a trip to your local 'representative's' home?

This is Cindy's letter to congress titled "Dear Congress Weinies"

Dear Elected Officials,
When are you all going to take back your constitutional authority from the maniac in the White House?
If you all won’t protect us, who willl?

We are seriously screwed and you all sit back and let the administrative branch take away our freedoms and foist criminals on us: people with no humanity or regard for our American Constitution or humanity. People like Alberto Gonzales and John Negroponte and most recently, John Bolton...torturers and murderers, to name a few. You in fact are complicit in stealing our freedoms by extending the un-Constitutional and un-Patriotic Patriot Act. Have you all lost your minds?

Please protect us. President John F. Kennedy said (1962): Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. I travel the country and I see a revolution coming...it won’t be violent, it will be a peaceful revolution.

We don’t want to lower ourselves to the level of our government. People are sick and tired of what’s going on in America today. We are wondering where we really live.

We have no checks and balances in this government. We don’t even have a media to tell us the truth. Please tell me what recourse do We the People have? May we impeach George and Dick and all of the lying cabinet? You all don’t follow the Constitution, why should we?

Take back your Constitutional power. Come back rested from your vacations and ready to do your jobs. Earn the obscene amount of money you make. Remember who you work for: your constituents, not the lobbyists, or George Bush.

Cindy Sheehan

49. From here in Maine, I do. I sent a letter to her hometown paper when
another DUer pointed out how it was just raking her over the coals.

http://www.thereporter.com/search/ci_2936053

http://www.thereporter.com/letters/ci_2940865

I was heartbroken for Cindy when I came across two
pieces in your paper about her that show no compassion
for her situation in any way. (Nancy Smith 8/13 and
Catherine Moy 8/12)

So to balance that I am writing from all the way over
here in Maine to tell you all that I love Cindy
Sheehan. I heard her speak at a Fair here in my area
and when she read the poem her daughter wrote in
memory of Casey I couldn't hold back my tears.

The local women who wrote about Cindy had a lot to say
about her, none of it good. But have they met her?
Spent time with her? Do they know the good she has
done in the world as a youth minister or how the son
she lost followed in her footsteps to also do good in
the world?

How can they uphold her noble son and yet excoriate
one of the people most responsible for molding him
into who he was? They should thank her for raising up
such a wonderful young man. Then they should grieve at
his passing with her. Even if they do not agree with
her questions about his death (and what loving mother
would not ask "Why?!") is it really necessary to trash
and degrade her in this way?

59. Standing with Cindy!
Me, too! I've been following her since she spoke at Rep. Conyers hearing. What a courageous woman. I'd love to come to Texas and literally stand beside, but ever since I had an episode of heat exhaustion several years ago, I have to be very careful in the sun.

I am planning to go to DC in Sept, though.

My husband (a VietNam era Vet stationed in CA) has a great-nephew who is currently at Ft. Benning and will soon deploy to Iraq. He volunteered to go. The boy's Republican father (who never served) offered him $20,000 to "see the world", which was one of the reasons he gave for wanting to go, and is now facing his hypocrisy of being in favor of the Iraq War, but trying to buy his son off from serving in it.

72. I wish I could go to Texas!
As a mother, I've been feeling increasingly concerned for my children in particular-and all our children also. For this reason, I really feel strongly that Cindy has become the catalyst for positive change in the thinking of Americans with regard to the obscenity that is the Iraq occupation. It hit me like a lightning bolt when I first heard of her decision to go last week and KNEW that "this is it"!

Feeling a bit powerless and frustrated because I'm unable to go there, I tried to figure out what to "do"-besides sending money. So last evening, I went to the local craft store-bought 2 hot pink tee shirts and transfer paper- and ironed on a photo of Cindy (with "Go Cindy!" under it) along with a yellow rose, and this question: "What is the noble cause? I'd like to know also!"

I'm on vacation this week so I'm making 2 more and this is my attire for the week. (Oh, and my CodePink button)..... And goin' about my business.

So far, I've been to the store and the farmers market today and find myself an educator! People are curious-only a few know about it, but when commented upon, others will chime in. I think that people are really wanting to discuss this but are feeling afraid to. This shirt gives anyone an opportunity to talk about Iraq-pro or con-one way or another-to my face-or behind my back. I don't care which way because I can hear them talking! And I feel like I'm standing with Cindy-a thousand miles away.

Not one more day
Not one more dollar
Not one more deception
Not one more drop of blood
Not one more death

End the occupation of Iraq-NOW

Almost everyone here. I'm going to go there on my way back from Seattle to Austin at the end of this month. My Seattle friends are worried that I will get killed for all of my bumper stickers.

162. Cindy has folks standing with her
across the big pond. She was the "guest of honor" at a friend's birthday party Wednesday, we all lit candles and put them in the garden. She will receive the card from us in the next days. During the festivities, I was required to field a call from a very elderly survivor of WWII. She and her circle of friends are also lighting candles...

207. I don't much go for this drama-cum-touch-n-feel, BUT
after I watched the scum-sucking anti-Cindy protesters, and that truck try to splash mud on them, and heard that the cops let the anti-Cindy protesters walk on the road, while Camp Casey is in the fucking ditch, and saw that asshat con radio host in his "Love Boat" get-up, it reminded me that no matter how much I hate woo-woo, who the real enemies are, and all of those who are enemies of freedom, be it "terrorists," or homegrown fascist theo-toad Bushbot authoritarian goose-steppers.

So, I definitely stand with Cindy, in facing them.

219. EVERYONE!
Every THINKING and FEELING human being on this planet; EVERYONE not totally blinded by greed or fear, EVERYONE who sees this hideous administration as the ancient evil, the true enemy of ALL mankind, that it very obviously IS, and has been all along.
I am not a religious man; my spirituality is at odds with all I've ever known of 'religion'... but I cannot help but whisper a small prayer to myself every day: God bless and keep this amazing woman safe from harm...
And I hope to stand with her in person in the very near future. I hope MANY more will join us.
I would be very proud to do that, to stand with her and all these brave others, shoulder to shoulder... to stand together and fall together, if need be. At this point, the very nature of our enemy leaves us little choice in the matter.
We have reached the Rubycon, friends...
The only way out now is through the fire.

But take heart, all of you, and draw courage from her example; she is here to show us that we are ALL made of MUCH sterner stuff than we know.

I sincerely hope I get to shake this woman's hand or get a hug if she will so honor me.

I decided to skip church and leave three hours earlier; last night I was at a dinner with my minister and members of my Sunday School Class and I told him I was playing hookey today to drive to Crawford and he just smiled. He wants a full report on what I see, hear and do.

As do most of the people at the party last night. I was instructed to forge their names on any petitions, etc that I came across.

Hey, yellowdogintexas...

Please let Ms. Sheehan know there's more support in D/FW for her and her cause than she's probably aware of. I've made it a point to tell all my co-workers about this one lone, brave woman digging her heels in against the denial we're getting spoon-fed from D.C.

Tell her there's a silent army standing behind her and she's showing us how to take the muzzles off.

And please, please tell her she and her late-son are in my prayers and the prayers of so many Christians it's becoming THE topic in churches and sanctuaries around the metroplex (well, at least the churches where the minister doesn't drive a Hummer).

240. last weekend Aug 5
Cindy went to Crawford with a handful of supporters. This weekend there were 2000 people literally standing with her. There are untold millions virtually standing with her.

And even so her arrogant detractors STILL think that they can isolate Cindy as an obsessive 'crazy liberal' mother who is 'not honoring' her son's death.

It won't work. We have the numbers.

241. My whole family is riveted
by her vigil.

There is Sheehan, baked by the unrelenting sun, broken-hearted, standing in rows of white crosses in a Texas ditch.

Her act is both a powerful accusation and a visual symbol that can't help but burn deeply into America's collective consciousness: the true nature of the bush administration and their corporate co-conspirators, who would cause a grieving mother (and our fallen troops) to be maligned, cruelly harassed ("We don't care!"), and relegated to a ditch, while a vacationing pResident zooms by in his air-conditioned, heavily arm-guarded limo on the way to party with wealthy benefactors.

257. Can you stand with someone without being by their side?
If you can, then I stand with Cindy. I admire her courage to become a public figure and fight against a power-hungry maniac with a God complex. She is a true defender of democracy, and every day she is in Crawford brings this war one step closer to its futile and tragic, but necessary end.

258. (Won't You Please Come Out To) Crawford
(to the tune of Chicago by Graham Nash - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young)

Now our mother's bound and gagged
And they've left her in a ditch
Won't you please come out to Crawford, come and shout
In a land that's known as Freedom
How can life be such a bitch?
Won't you please come out to Crawford--that’s what freedom is about!
We can change the world...

Well, that may be a tad off the truth. But at least she's spoken about in Norw. media; I've read articles about her in two different papers. Just look at this HUGE picture of Cindy in the lib paper Dagbladet:

http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2005/08/11/439924.html

I also support Cindy, of course. How can anyone not?
