Christian rights group (Rutherford Institute) sues over school posters

A Christian-rights group on Friday said it has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a Spanish teacher whose religious posters were removed from the classroom while he was out sick.

The Rutherford Institute is suing the York County School Board, alleging that Tabb High School officials deprived William Lee of his freedom of speech and equal protection rights last October when they took down the materials.

Lee is asking the U.S. District Court in Norfolk to allow him to rehang the posters, which included one publicizing the National Day of Prayer.

Lee, who advises the school's Christian students club, also had displayed news articles about President Bush's religious faith and former Attorney General John Ashcroft's prayer meetings with his staffers....

1. Sorry bub, but the taxpayers pay your salary...

and we all live under a constitution that says you can't do that. It's not infringement on your free speech---you are paid for what you say in that school room, by the people--and the people live by the rule of law.

You can speak all you want, on your own time, and your own dime.

No reason at all for a poster advertising the National Day of Prayer to be up in any public school classroom.

Boy, it's a good thing somebody's looking out for the poor oppressed christian minority.

Just think how terribly unjust it would be if they were forced to worship in their homes and churches, instead of in public schools and buildings as is their god-given amerikkkan birthright.

4. Hey, If you want to hang those posters in a classroom

you better get a job at a religious school, because last time I checked there was a separation of Church & State, and Public Schools fall under the category of State, and NOT Church
