Could someone point me in the direction of some info on Iran &
what will happen if we start a war with them?

Once again, this is all new to me, and I'm trying to learn what we think will happen if we attack Iran.

Thanks for putting up with my stupid questions.

1. No one really knows. THere are lots of guesses. One this for sure -
the price of gas will go into the double digits. Yes, I said gas not oil. That will be in the triple digits.

Iran can fight back. We have most of our troops nearby. They could wipe out most of our military in one strike.

Check out www.fromthewildernes.com He makes the point that the rest of the world would not sit back and watch that invasion. The world cannot stand a lessening of the amount of oil that an invasion of Iran would make. He thinks we will be attacked with nuclear weapons.

Another thing that could happen before the actual invasion is dropping the dollar like a hot potato. That would destroy our economy. Cheaper than a war. * would be busy with riots in the street. He would have to use what is left of the military to save himself.

Lots of things could happen. Depends on how desperate and stupid the repubs are.

4. Indeed.
"Lots of things could happen. Depends on how desperate and stupid the repubs are."

It has occurred to me that even if they are desperate and stupid enough to invade Iran, many others in the world wishing to prevent an interruption in oil deliveries would take dramatic steps if necessary to prevent a U.S. invasion of Iran. Significantly, the government of China has already told America not to even THINK about going into Iran with military force. And China holds enough U.S. currency to be able to hurt us REAL BAD economically if they wanted to, so I can't fathom how W and his gang of thugs in power could ignore their warnings about Iran.

I'm not sure where Russia stands on the Iran nuclear development issue except that they have been the ones providing Iran with some of what they need to do nuclear work -- including the fuel, I understand. After our government began protesting Iran's nuclear fuel enrichment efforts loudly and tried to put pressure on Russia to stop helping them, Putin apparently replied that they had a working relationship with Iran and the U.S. should butt out. Funny to me, thinking of Putin the old KGB head talking that way to W, the son of a former CIA head!

One can only imagine how Papa B feels about these things. Sometimes I wonder if he isn't embarrassed as hell at how his offspring in the WH behaves, but then I figure he is probably more proud than dismayed.

If W really did rattle his saber more vigorously than he has yet (where would HE have ever gotten a sabre, anyway, except as a ceremonial gift only from someone trying to cultivate favor with him), I think there are enough other nations who would object and step on his d**k, successfully pushing him back into his place on this issue. But I still feel some concern that he would do as he's done before and just ignore all warnings and advice and do whatever he damn well pleases as would-be "dictator" of America.

IMO it would be up to us citizens to raise enough hell to prevent such a move if he actually started trying to make it. I feel we COULD have done it before he invaded Iraq, but he convinced too many with his lies that it was necessary for our "security." There was too much concensus among intelligence services and others worldwide about Saddam's WMD programs being still quite active and at least somewhat successful.

But NOW we know the truth on THAT issue. So I feel W would have one helluva time trying to convince anyone that Iran was a threat serious enough to our security to justify military invasion. And there are many more reasons -- some of them quite obvious to everyone -- that use of America's military in Iran would be impossible.

Again, that still doesn't mean he wouldn't TRY. Maybe he'd get Rummy and Condi and Karl and whatever military personnel he could muster to his side together at Crawford and hatch some black ops plan to raid Iran's nuclear facilities.... gads, what a scary thought.

I wonder how long people are going to continue to go along with irrational reactions on the part of our government to perceived threats to our "national security"?? The dangers inherent in such moves have been pointed out by so many articulate, knowledgeable writers for long enough now that I'm almost surprised Americans can still be as sheepish as they are.

Anyone else here remember a sci-fi book from about 35 years ago called The Sheep Look Up? John Brunner, I think it was. That book was about overpopulation and pollution leading to catastrophic living conditions due to citizens' failure to utilize their political power to prevent them, but the core idea about sheep looking up while disaster clearly looms is relevant.

Perhaps I should be using A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller as a sci-fi warning tome in the context of the modern-day "Iran crisis," since W has indicated use of even our nuclear weaponry is on the table as an option....

3. There was speculation that they would bomb all the possible

nuclear linked sites, but not have boots on the ground. This doesn't make sense knowing that their overall agenda is Israel, Oil, Water, and Pipelines to Israel and the Mediterranean. It also doesn't make sense since Iran is supposed to be 10 years away from having a nuclear bomb - there is time for negotiations, but all the signals are flashing...war on Iran.

Theirs is a different world from our - their is a world of deals, betrayals, revenge.

Their hints at preparing us is thick fog that is clearing with their repeated claims, threats, and bombastic chest thumping.

Now they are telling us that the 'PEOPLE of Iran' WANT their leaders to pursue nuclear efforts, but they don't say if they mean nuclear bombs, nuclear energy, or nuclear verbal and political rebuttals to our invasion threats. And if they specified what they think the people of Iran want - we wouldn't know if it is a lie.
