Offended by the "f" word?
I thought this was hilarious and so silly and pathetic so I wanted to share for you to have a good laugh. Now at record store's you can preview the record even before you buy and hear albums (full albums) at mtv.com and read reviews and have stickers on there for parental guidance.

<Refunds Offered in Evanescence Case

by Sarah Hall
Aug 12, 2005, 3:30 PM PT

Offended by the F-word? Live in Maryland? Own an Evanescence CD purchased at your local Wal-Mart? You may be entitled to a refund.

In response to a civil suit filed by a Maryland couple, a judge has approved a deal enabling people who stopped in at the retailing giant last year to pick up the band's Anywhere but Home to get their money back. After Trevin and Melanie Skeens of Brownsville, Maryland, allowed their daughter to purchase Evanescence's Anywhere but Home at their local Wal-Mart, they were startled to discover that the album contained explicit lyrics.>

Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 11:57 AM by haktar
or the indecent f-word ?

Overly use of cursing is seen here as a sign of uneducated people,
but i never hear "bleep bleep bleep" here in an afternoon talk show, regardless how much the people are cursing.

And to Grand theft auto. Here in Germany you can buy it with the age of 16. And i am strongly against reclassifying it according to the naked mod.
It is simply too violent to be played by 12 year olds. ;-)

13. I really don't undestand your classification of movies or games
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 01:00 PM by haktar
Our age classification can simply be explained:
Glorification of violence or disrespect for human dignity means: it is not suitable for minors. So, if a person is degraded as a sex object, or
a crime is filmed with too much visual effects, the film is for adults only. Naked skin alone isn't enough to classify a film unsuitable for minors. If there is sexual interactions in a movie it is probably
allowed for 16 year olds. If the movie is only used for sexual arousement with closeups of sexual organs it's porn and for adults only.

I once told a friend in Georgia : I think you can't have a naked breast
on TV exept it is mutiliated by a criminal. But he refused to discuss it with me. He probably was so prude that he was unable to think about it.

On edit: in the context of this thread. the f-word wouldn't be considered indecent here, the n-word would.

Her voice really needs the kind of post-production that they apply to it on the studio album. I could barely listen to the live album because she sounded so horrid.

I expect that kind of language from a rock & roll band. The use of that word on the Senate and there and official communication. Is intollerable from a statesman. We are noe entitled to a DULL refind of his salary. If the Vice President doesn't like it. He can go fuck himself and then pull the rip cord Dick! Pull the rip cord!

36. Anglo-Saxon vs. Latin.
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 04:33 PM by Spider Jerusalem
The Anglo-Saxon words 'fuck', 'shit', 'piss', & so on were considered vulgar (ie, 'common', the speech of lower-class and uneducated people) largely because, thanks to the place of Latin in education through the early modern period, the Latin derivatives 'fornicate', 'defecate' and 'urinate' were considered the educated and 'proper' terms to use. It's basically thanks to social class distinctions that eventually evolved into taboos.

28. People offended by the f-word should fucking fuck the fuck off.
useless sex-obsessed-but-sexually-ignorant-and-repressed Christian filth.

Fuck them.

nothing pisses me off more than assholes who think that they need to censor words and sex, but have no problem telling their children that war is glorious, that America is God's right hand, and that violence on TV and in movies is A-Okay so long as it shows Christians (or America, or the Police, or other Authority) winning, and doesn't show any awful, rotten, tasteless, taboo, evil, rotten nasty boobies.

29. walmart
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 02:36 PM by cory817
The thing about Walmart is they won't sell anything that has a "parental advisery warning" sticker on it in the first place, for sure at least in music. So if you buy a CD at Walmart that would usually carry a label it is a dumbed down "clean" version they had to make specifically so it could be sold at Walmart, I guess since they are the largest retailer and all that they are pretty much forced to.

I was riding around with a friend and he put in a new CD and all the F's and whatever else had been changed to other words that didn't fit, and I gave him "you bought this at walmart right haha" with lots of ridicule and "thats what you get"s jk, but he was ticked cause he had no idea they did that.

It kind of allows the parental warnings/mature ratings to become censorship because anything with it won't be sold and Walmart, and they're so friggin huge and everywhere I guess if you live in a small town its your only choice though I would find mailorder or something.

Its lead to some funny stuff like Nirvana's "rape me" being changed to "waif me" when it was written on the CD cover, and there was one with a kid with raspberry jelly all over her face and they wouldn't sell it because it supposedly looked like blood.

So on the Evanescence thing it was probably a hardly noticeable F that slipped in so it didn't carry a sticker, so its not like the parents saw the sticker then let them buy it and then were shocked, its stupid anyway though.

Used to be up until 2002 that Walmart carried CDs with explicit lyrics, but the morans forced Wallyworld to supply us with only "clean" versions of the albums. Man what a useless store.

... filed in the first place, let alone permitted to proceed and THEN ruled upon favorably

What a complete fuck-up.

The couple filed suit against Sony BMG Music Entertainment and the band's label, Wind-Up Records, for failing to adequately mark the discs and Wal-Mart for failing to appropriately censor the album.

Idiots.
