"All right," Bush says. "Let's go have fun."
President Bush took seven journalists on a ride around his Crawford, Texas ranch on Saturday. He spoke with them before the ride. Here are a few excerpts of that interview.

"There's something exhilarating about heading down a hill at 25 mph on a mountain bike," a mud-spattered Bush says after a ride at his ranch.

>>He has taken heat for his devotion to his bike. Twice, in the middle of the day, he was exercising when a crisis erupted: in 2001, a man wielding a gun was shot outside the White House, and in May, a plane strayed into restricted airspace above Washington. As the White House and Capitol were evacuated, Bush was riding his bike, as a Washington Post columnist put it, "blissfully unaware."<<

President Bush rides through wildflowers at his Texas ranch with Reuters photographer Jason Reed, center, and St. Petersburg Times Washington bureau chief Bill Adair, right. Bush says, "I become a reinvigorated person as a result of a good exercise session."

BLISSFULLY UNAWARE Transcript:
>>All right, let's go have fun. This will be great. Again, hang in there and do not force the President too hard. Be kind. Then afterwards we'll have a good visit.<<

BLISSFULLY UNAWARE.

4. What qualities do you look for in the President of the United States?
Hmm. Well, I'd have to say 'BLISSFULLY UNAWARE' would be at the top of the list. 'LIAR' would definitely be second. and third? oh, let's go with a good bike rider. Yeah, that's about it.

:nuke: AAARGHHH.

23. Not every adult is able-handed.
My dad is 86 and wears that type of shoe, because he needs easy-on, easy-off shoes.

Doesn't excuse *, of course. (Don't know why anyone who does have reasonably agile fingers would want them - I tried a pair once, and they don't fit as snugly as regular sneakers with shoestrings.)

14. Bush's "windsurfing" while his (and our) world crumbles. PR disaster.
This is utterly stupid, pretending to have fun when the whole world is watching him try to ignore a noble woman of courage and while his craziest of the crazies who are his supporters are up-in-arms.

In other words he is leaving the PR on this to the certifiable hard right wing. Bush comes across as more out of touch than ever.

25. I ride ...
... and unless I've been missing something, 25 mph is pretty fast for going downhill on a mountain bike. Sounds like another lie to me. Surprise, surprise.

Not that you can't get up to 20-25 on flat land on a basic mountain bike, but how long a hill is he talking about? Somehow I don't see him hurtling along at that pace and then flying down a hill. Especially not dressed like such a goober.

35. I noticed that too and I call BS.
Completely bogus. And from the pics, these are the tough MTB trails he's riding on? WTF?!? Where's the singletrack? Looks like he's riding on nothing more than a friggin' fireroad. I could ride my road bike on that. Without even wiping out, mind you. You don't need a mountain bike for riding that stuff. Proves it's all about image and nothing more. But we already knew that.

He has been caught by the bug like millions. So he's "blissfully unaware". So fucking what--he's exercising and he's in pretty damn good shape.

That doesn't mean he's not a war criminal. That doesn't mean he shouldn't talk to Cindy. Do not let hatred make you blind.
