Father pays $60 million for daughter's wedding
Is this disgusting or what? This woman's wedding costed more then what most of us will earn in a lifetime.

Daddies' Girls
Forbes.com

Having a father as a billionaire can be quite a perk. Imagine the endless shopping sprees, extensive travel opportunities and elaborate parties. Lakshmi Mittal, the head of Mittal Steel, shelled out $60 million for his daughter Vanisha's wedding last year.

Plus, there's the chance to inherit a fortune and become a billionaire yourself. Sixty-eight women qualified for our 2005 billionaires list, up from 37 two years ago. But only eight of them created their fortunes from scratch, including Martha Stewart, eBay's (NASDAQ: EBAY) Meg Whitman and Oprah Winfrey. The rest, including the world's three richest women--Helen and Alice Walton, the wife and daughter of Wal-Mart Stores' founder, and Liliane Bettencourt, daughter of L'Oréal founder--inherited all or most of their wealth from their fathers or husbands.

For some daughters of billionaires, enjoying the high life and waiting for that inheritance isn't enough. Proving that ambition and business savvy often run in the family, some daughters work hard to make a name for themselves in business. Sometimes, it is a bid to compete for the top spot in the family company. Other times they indulge their own entrepreneurial passions.

6. My first thought, too.
I've been to several lavish weddings of couples who divorced before their parents paid off all the bills they generated. What a monumental waste of money.

5. I'm glad he stimulated the wedding industry
Let's see if the divorce, if any, costs the same.

...bought out the employee-owned, ISU represented Weirton Steel (in WV) last year and has laid off hundreds of workers. And his daughter gets a $60 million wedding.

:(

edited for clarity

8. I heard the most recent Forbes 500 reports............
show that, on average, corporate CEO's make over 500x what their lowest paid employees make. The rich continue to parade their wealth, while the poor languish.

I first heard about this report on Thom Hartmann's "Brunch with Bernie" segment, but I'll try to find a substantiating link.

9. This is why we have a system of taxation
Not to tax the worker to death and give it all to the rich but to keep people like this obscene asshole from taking the wealth of the country in his sole greedy hands.
People put up with this because gee maybe one day they can be billionaires and blow a wad on cloning their poodle. I am irrational right now. Workers of the World Unite!
Single payer health care!. Down with the Romanovs! Up with People...oops, strike that, get out the big muscle arms with sledge hammers posters, No not the baking soda ads!
Is populism sooo bad? Is a llittle socialism sooo evil? Look, I don't drink commune tobasco by the glass but a little bit on my capitalist freedoms sure adds a nice flavor.

13. As a former wedding photographer.. lemme tell ya..
I lost count of how many weddings were splurged on and ended in divorce a few short years later. I thought the 3 million dollar wedding in Santa Barbara a few years ago was obscene.

It makes me ill to think of what the 60 million would have done for maybe.. foster children? AIDS babies?
