TRANSCRIPT: Bush addresses the families last night!
WACO, Texas, Aug. 14 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Following is the transcript of remarks by President Bush at the Little League Baseball Southwest Regional Championship Game:

Marvin Norcross Stadium; August, 13, 2005, 7:45 P.M. CDT

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all for the warm welcome. Welcome to Texas. Steve, thank you very much for inviting me. Mayor DuPuy, thank you very much for being such a gracious host for this important regional tournament. It’s great to see you. I'm proud to be here, by the way, with the mayor of Crawford, Texas. Mayor David Posten. Mr. Mayor, it’s good to see you. Laura and I are really thrilled to be here.

Before I say something about the families here, I do want to thank the Pride of the Blue, the Robinson High School Band, for being here. (Applause.) I particularly want to say to the coaches of both teams, thanks for setting such a good example, thanks for taking time out of your lives to help these young men understand the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship and hard work.

To the families who are here, thank you very much for supporting your Little Leaguer. Thanks for taking time out of your life to set such a good example for them and show them the love and compassion that is necessary. And to the players, congratulations to you. You’ve worked hard to get here. Laura and I and Condi are looking forward to seeing a great game. We wish you all the very best.

Play hard, play fair, play to win. God bless you all and may God continue to bless our great country. Thank you very much. (Applause.)

Bush will `go on with life'
Defends refusal to meet protester

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush, noting that lots of people want to talk to the president and "it's also important for me to go on with my life," on Saturday defended his decision not to meet with the grieving mom of a soldier killed in Iraq.

Bush said he is aware of the anti-war sentiments of Cindy Sheehan and others who have joined her protest near the Bush ranch.

"But whether it be here or in Washington or anywhere else, there's somebody who has got something to say to the president, that's part of the job," Bush said on the ranch. "And I think it's important for me to be thoughtful and sensitive to those who have got something to say."

"But," he added, "I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life."

The comments came prior to a bike ride on the ranch with journalists and aides. It also came as the crowd of protesters grew in support of Sheehan, the California mother who came here Aug. 6 demanding to talk to Bush about the death of her son Casey. Sheehan arrived earlier in the week with about a half dozen supporters. As of yesterday (Saturday) there were about 300 anti-war protesters and approximately 100 people supporting the Bush Administration. In addition to the two-hour bike ride, Bush's Saturday schedule included an evening Little League Baseball playoff game, a lunch meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a nap, some fishing and some reading. "I think the people want the president to be in a position to make good, crisp decisions and to stay healthy," he said when asked about bike riding while a grieving mom wanted to speak with him. "And part of my being is to be outside exercising."

On Friday, Bush's motorcade drove by the protest site en route to a Republican fund-raising event at a nearby ranch.

As Bush rolled by, Sheehan held a sign that said, "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

5. Dubya has gone psycho with this statement.....
"But," he added, "I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life."

Get on with his life? Like he's put it on hold or what! Fat chance Casey Sheehan will get on with his life, but that's not dubya's worry. Gawd I can't believe the shallow mind of this man. :grr:

4. In-friken-credible!!!!!!!
He has time to screw around at a LITTLE LEAGUE game, but he can't give an hour to a GOLD STAR MOTHER?

I wonder if the boy in the bubble has even half a clue how LOUSY he is looking, how callous he appears, how this could be trouble because the Crawford contigent AIN'T going away, even though he would wish it so.

Little kids in the sandlot=easy peasy. Grieving mother=too hard, run away!

What a putz!
