Bush has an obligation to invite the protesters on to his ranch.

He's being the bad neighbor here. If he gives the protesters an acre next to the road to protest on, it moves them off of the road and away from the neighbors. He can have the perimeter fenced off with temporary corral fencing and have his SS guys patrol the area if he likes. I'd say it's his neighborly duty to do so, since he is the cause of it all.

4. More than that

Bush could do a lot to reduce his "damage" not just by talking to Ms. Sheehan, but also by having cook-outs, getting them food, making sure they have clean porta-potties and places to stay if it rains, and so on -- and on his own dime. Noblesse Oblige, old bean.

But we know Bush pretty well. He won't even talk to Cindy Sheehan, and he won't acknowledge that the protesters are there. Magnanimity is not to be found in that man.
