Need a bumper sticker design--
I am so sick and tired of seeing pro-life bumper stickers out there that don't make sense. I came up with this last night, and need a design so someone can sell it on CafePress or wherever (I don't have an account there so can't sell it myself).

"Unaffordable Healthcare Stops a Beating Heart"

Can anyone get the graphics right and all? There's more talent here than in my house--and if someone could make these, I know a lot of nurses and friends who'd buy them.

1. I can help you with that ... and ...
I can pull off pretty simple graphic design with Adobe photoshop and help you get it on Cafepress if you like. Here is a link to some others I've done:

Also, one of the best bumperstickers I've ever seen says:

War kills unborn babies

Not sure where you can find that one, though.

5. Ooh, those look good!
I'd ask my mom, who's done graphic design and all, but she's not as comfortable on the computer. Your stuff looks good and clear--important for bumper stickers, I think.

I'd start a CafePress account, but as I'm trying to start up a yarn shop, I can't put my politics quite as out there as I would like. Where I live, it would make me lose customers. I was hoping to convince someone to make the bumpersticker for me.

How's that for lazy? :)

I also thought that putting the emphasis on affordable healthcare might get a fundy's attention and really make him or her think, as opposed to just offending him or her. Maybe not, but it's worth a try.

7. How to make it even more snappy?
"Pollution stops a beating heart"?

"Angels work harder on pollution than abortion"?

I don't have any more . . .

8. Ooh--I like that one!
It would definitely make people think, which is the idea.

Hmmmm. Can I get the paper to print it out as a bumper sticker? I know I could as a t-shirt, having done that once for a play, but I've never seen bumper sticker paper.

Btw, you're giving that graphic away for free? Why don't you sell it to make up for your time and talent? Good work shouldn't be free. Where can I buy your stuff?

10. You're awesome!
You really should think of charging something, though. I know we knitters tend to devalue our work, and then we get mad that people won't pay what it's worth. :eyes:

A CafePress account would be great for your stuff--posters, bags, shirts, all of it. ;)

11. Many folks have suggested this.
Almost every day, in fact. For right now, I am doing this purely for my own personal catharsis and entertainment, with the hope that it will do the same for others. Perhaps one day I will publish a book of the "best of" pix, and sign the copies. I am a starving grad student with loans owed for the last two degrees and really need the money... like for my texts books this coming semester, which I cannot afford... yet, I want to continue giving the images for free, for democracy.

14. Amen!!!
I love SwampRat's work, and it would wonderful to get a whole book of it. Of course, I would also buy a bag for my knitting, and I need another one like I need a hole in the head. :eyes:

Btw, w8liftinglady, does your son need a helmet liner? There's a great pattern at http://www.geocities.com/helmetliner (it has a part that can be pulled down over the nose and mouth for the wind that I like, and it's a nicer pattern than the other one I'd been using). I'm trying to get a knitting for the troops group going in my town, and I'm already making one for another mom's son here at DU. Let me know if he thinks he could use one.
