By Cindy Sheehan

I apparently am the sacrificial lamb of the peace movement. I don't care about myself. Putting myself in the forefront and daring to challenge the president on his lies left myself open to the attacks. Which are, of course, half truths and distortions.

When they start sliming my home life and my family, that's where I draw the line. Yes, my husband has filed for divorce and yes he filed before I left for the VFP Convention and this trip to Crawford and yes IT IS BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND I.

Having Casey murdered in Iraq by George Bush's reckless policies has been hard enough on my family, but me setting off on my holy war to bring the troops home, my constant absences, and all of the media attention has put additional stresses on my family. <snip> more...

This should put to rest all the attacks last night on Cindy right here on DU.

Thank you. Words cannot convey your wisdom, thus your importance.

2. Here's to Cindy
A true American hero.

I can't imagine the stress she is under right now.

Hope that she is in all of our hopes and prayers.

I wasn't around last night, but I can't imagine any DU'er bashing this fine lady.

3. The death of a child often splits up the parents.
It's awful but unfortunately it's true. It raises such intense feelings in both parents that if they can't come together about how to express/cope with them it often destroys the marriage. It's one of the great risks involved in having children.

Anyone who's using the divorce to score political points of Cindy Sheehan is not only a slimeball, but sadly underinformed about the complexities of human relationships.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

6. She shouldn't have to be going through this crap. Her personal life
is just that, HER PERSONAL LIFE. She's a mother whose son was murdered by Bush because HE LIED. That is the issue here.

7. I think she's reached a point where her personal safety and
security doesn't matter anymore. I understand how she feels because I often have felt that way since my husband died. If something were to happen that I felt the only thing I could do would be to risk all for the sake of honor, or truth etc., I would do it because there is nothing to hold me back anymore.
