sorry, made and oops and accidently posted in LBN> apologies..
I feel the need to get these things out. I have been told two disturbing stories. One from a Gulf War I Veteran who DESPISES George Bush, and another who just got back from a tour in Iraq. I in NO way can come close to imagining the horrors these two men have endured, but I think it needs to be shared.
The first, being a vet of Gulf war I, was my neighbor for about two years. We still occasionally keep in touch. He was in Iraq in the first Gulf War. We were on the subject of his hatred for Bush, and how he KNEW we'd be back over there. This was a conversation in 2001. He was sure right. He told me that after a bomb was dropped, He and a fellow soldier had to take an Iraqi woman's body..just the lower half as the rest was gone, out of a vehicle. He said he remembered having to unbuckle the seat belt from around her lower torso. He had so much anger relating that story to me.
Another soldier from the present ILLEGAL war was in a caravan of about four humvees. He was in the first humvee, along with his Captain. Well, they were being shot at. He told me there was NO protective shielding for these vehicles. His captain was hiding on the floorboard. They realized that the last humvee had abruptly stopped. So this soldier also stopped so that he could check on the men and women behind him. The captain kept screaming DONT STOP, Keep GOING!...
He disobeyed, as his best friend was driving that last humvee and he had to know what had happened, to see if they were ok.He and the other soldiers all got out to see what the matter was. His best friend, driving that last humvee, was screaming "I dont know what's the matter!!! I keep slamming down on the gas and we just arent moving!!" The soldier from the first humvee looked down at his best friend's legs, and he saw that he had nothing but mangled mush from the knees down. I cried when I heard this. The injured soldier had to have his legs amputated from the knees down. It is hard, the soldier said, to look his best friend in the eyes. The cowardly captain was subsequently honored in a ceremony after that incident. The soldier who relayed the story to me may be returning in Nov.
GOD I HATE THIS FUCKING WAR!
