Pat Buchanan makes great arguments *against* attacking Iran

When Pat is right, he's really really right. He makes what appears to be a complete, unassailable argument against Bush even thinking about touching Iran. A GREAT READ!

he's conservative in the old-school fiscal responsibility, no foreign entanglements sort of way.
Of course, he's also old-school in the anti-Semitic, minority-hatin' kinda way.
But at least with him, you know where you stand.

when it mattered most. If he was really against the administration's policies, he would have voted Kerry.

If he voted for Bush, one might put it in an obvious perspective. Pat has several glaring weaknesses, and one is that he is still a true believer in Richard Nixon. As such, he certainly wasn't going to vote for Kerry.

His recent statements on the scandals such as the neocon spy- and Plame would seem to show he is not a Bush fan when it counts the most. Still, I certainly understand why many democrats are less than fond of Pat. I find his ideas of social policy are crude. But his knowledge of foreign policy and some related areas of economics are solid.

8. ALthough after the war started

He was very comfortable calling all those who opposed the war after it started treasonous. He is more nuanced than many republicans, but he's consistant his disdain for us.

11. his written arguments re: Iraq / Iran / neo-cons are excellent

but he seems to pull his punches on air. i never even hoped he would endorse Kerry, though at least one editor of American Conservative did, but Buchanan then wrote an editorial endorsing Bush, ( he could have refrained from endorsing anyone at all ) which is when I cancelled my subscription.

Where the Right Went Wrong is excellent. Buchanan is one of the most intelligent conservatives in America. I read his column every week or so.

Pat Buchanan is insane, with regard to social issues...

"Batshit Crazy" is the DU term, I think...

But he is a true patriot, regardless... He really seems to have the best interests of our country in mind. This puts him at odds with the neo-cons, and the Republican party in general.

13. I will say this about patrick Buchanan

As a politician I disagree with many/most of his positions --- unlike the current regime, I do believe he has the well being of the American working person at heart (again he and I often define well being in different terms), Chimpy and the neocons have the well being of corporate America at heart and I believe would enjoy an American serfdom serving the corporate Kings.

Now, as a political pundit I like Buchanan; though I rarely agree with him. I have never seen Buchanan calling for violence or misfortune to befall those on the other side. I do not see him attempting to vilify others for personal/political gain (think of what the RW did to Max Cleland ... ). He, in fact, seems uncomfortable with the vitriol spewed by the likes of Ann Coulter, O'lielly ...
Though he iS going to aggressively make his point.

So yeah, I think he's fairly crazy; for him I'll remove the "batshit" from batshitcrazyinsane.
