The Bushoilini Regime climbs on the "Blame America First!" bandwagon.
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 02:13 PM by TahitiNut
When reports of prisoner abuse were published by Newsweek, the Mighty Wurlitzer of the Fascist right wing geared up and played the tune of "Blame America" for the increased unrest and killings in the Middle East. It was, they said, the behavior of Americans (Newsweek and the detainee abusers) that was to blame for anti-Americanism (and terrorism) in the Middle East.

Being pressed to release the photos and videos of prisoner abuse under FOIA, the Pentagon is beating the "Blame America" drums yet again. We cannot expose such evidence of American behavior, they say, because such American behavior will result in a backlash - terrorism and killings. Their message is clear: the attacks on America are due to evidence of American behavior.

It's an interesting thing about mindless nationalism and partisan blindness. When the 'liberal' opposition responsibly calls for the end of hegemonic and militaristic behavior as a path toward increased peace in the world, the fascists beat the "They're Blaming America!" war drums in an attempt to rally the visceral mobs on the right and the mindlessly muddled in the middle. Yet it's an awfully convenient posture for them to take when working furiously to kick dirt over their true behavior: the criminality and corruption of this regime.

Lies have a funny way of exposing the liars themselves.

5. It's also amazing how fast a conceptual topic like this sinks in GD.

I should put 'Nader' or 'Sexist' in the subject line, I guess. :-( (Thinking is "hard work.")

I guess it's no wonder that many of our most thoughtful and insightful posters have stopped bothering.

2. and yet the visceral thinkers continue to respond...
That's the scary part. If you object to the Bush Administration's behavior,
regardless of what it is, you are Blaming America. Either that or you are
Pro-Terrorist.

3. Of course, right out of Josef Goebbels' propaganda manual....

Leonard W. Doob, “Goebbels’ Principles of Propaganda,” Public Opinion and Propaganda (New York: H. Holt, 1948) (POLITPROP)

Who was Joseph Goebbels? He was the Minister of Propaganda for Nazi Germany

Important points Propaganda must be planned and executed by only one authority
To be perceived, propaganda must evoke the interest of an audience and must be transmitted through tan attention-getting communications medium
Propaganda must be carefully timed
Propaganda on the home front must diminish the impact of frustration

7. They set it up as a "win/win" for themselves.
And count on no one taking the time or effort to expose the contradictions. Even if the media wasn't complicit, I doubt it would want to work that hard.

8. Why aren't the Democrats who support the release of photos ...
... not attacking the Regime for "Blaming America"???

In my opinion, there's a a lot that can be ascribed to the US's economic exploitation, political predation, and support for oppressive regimes in the Middle East. If conscientous Deomcrats were to go on the attack, perhaps more of the people would wake up to this.

Call me an idealist. I don't mind. :silly:

14. They always want to have it both ways.
I just wonder if people will ever catch on. I think too many people have no critical thinking skills. Someone can tell them the chair is green one moment and they believe and then someone else will tell them it's black a minute later and they'll believe that, too. It doesn't cause the cognitive dissidence it should -- that it does in thinking brians. So, I have to wonder what has happened to them ...
