Judge: some arguments in Abu Ghraib prison photo case must be disclosed

NEW YORK -- A judge said he generally ruled in favor of public disclosure when he ordered the government on Monday to reveal some redacted parts of its argument for blocking the release of pictures and videotapes of detainee abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein made the statement in open court after meeting in a closed session with lawyers for the government and the American Civil Liberties Union, which is seeking release of the pictures and tapes.

Is that he wants to hear what General Myers had to say.
But didn't this neocon already said that "riots, violence and attacks by insurgents will result" if the images were released?

4. This is Fucking Sad

So now the Government's lawyers have another chance to appeal why they did not comply with the Judges first order to disclose the photos and videos. The ACLU gets to see "some" of the arguments. How in hell can the lawyers for the Public be expected to argue against the Government if they do not even know the subject, facts behind, or course of the Government's argument? And even with full disclosure of the arguments, something we apparently Will never see, there is still the matter of an actual second judgment to allow us to see the dam things. I think the question to ask of the Judge is why in Hell Myers isn't behind bars for not complying in the first god damned place. If we can toss reporters into jail surely we can toss a General in the slammer.

5. More arguments scheduled for August 30th

The judge said "a speedy decision is important so the public's right to know isn't compromised".
Waiting half a month to hear a man repeat what he's said several times in the past is not exactly what i'd call speed.
