Ras: Bush Job Approval Among Independents is 37%
Can you say Nixonesque?!?!?

Monday August 15, 2005--Forty-six percent (46%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. This matches the lowest level of Approval for the President since April 22.

Fifty-three percent (53%) of Americans disapprove.

The President's Approval Rating is at 80% among Republicans, 19% among Democrats, and 37% among those not affiliated with either major party.

Consumer confidence has fallen to its lowest level in twenty-one months and pessimism is growing about the War on Terror.

2. As an Independent, it warms my heart
they are FINALLY paying attention to us. For years it was as if we didn't exist. It changed with the last election. I got telephone calls. I got polled all the time.

Well, as for me, I consider Bush and the current crop of Republicans the WORST in my lifetime and I will NEVER vote for one.

As I have said many times before, I would rather dig up Nixon. Anybody who lived through the Nixon Administration, would know from my previous statement how about I feel about Bush and his cronies.

5. I do.
But what kept Nixon from doing this kind of damage was the strength of the Soviet Union, an unconcentrated media, a relatively independent judiciary, and a real Congress.

If you dug up Dickie in this climate, God knows what that paranoid freak would do.

6. Exactly.
In WV, 50% of voters consider themselves "Democrats." But only 69% of those people voted for Kerry. Same thing in LA and KY. I believe these are the people approving of * on the Dem side. I know it is none of us. . .

7. Ras overstates Repubs.
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 07:03 PM by TruthIsAll
Ras overstates Repubs.
Like this:

PartyID %	app	dis
Rep	0.37	0.8	0.2
Dem	0.37	0.19	0.81
Ind	0.26	0.37	0.63
Total	1.00	0.4625	0.5375

This is closer to the facts:
Bush approval is no more than 45%
PartyID %	app	dis
Rep	0.35	0.8	0.2
Dem	0.38	0.19	0.81
Ind	0.27	0.37	0.63
Total	1.00	0.4521	0.5479

9. Aren't There As Many Republicans As There Are Democrats?
Correct me if I'm wrong. I know that the final (yet unreliable and impossible) exit poll had Repubs and Dems at the same %.

8. Who will the 20% of Rethugnicans that don't approve of Bush vote for?
Will they still vote for another Rethugnican president, or even for another Bush?

Even disapproving of Bush, would they STILL vote for him again if he somehow had a chance to run for a third term?
